A carbon paste electrode modified with p-chloranil and carbon nanotubes was used for the sensitive and selective voltammetric determination of hydroxylamine (HX) and phenol (PL). The oxidation of HX at the modified electrode was investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronoamperommetry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The values of the catalytic rate constant (k), and diffusion coefficient (D) for HX were calculated. Square wave voltammetric peaks current of HX and PL increased linearly with their concentrations at the ranges of 0.1-172.0 and 5.0-512.0 μmol L(-1), respectively. The detection limits for HX and PL were 0.08 and 2.0 μmol L(-1), respectively. The separation of the anodic peak potentials of HX and PL reached to 0.65 V, using square wave voltammetry. The proposed sensor was successfully applied for the determination of HX and PL in water and wastewater samples.

Enrichment of a heterotrophic nitrifying and aerobic denitrifying bacterial consortium: Microbial community succession and nitrogen removal characteristics and mechanisms.

Department of Ecology, College of Life Science and Technology, Jinan University, Guangzhou 510632, Guangdong, China. Electronic address:

This study cultivated a bacterial consortium (S60) from landfill leachate that exhibited effective heterotrophic nitrification and aerobic denitrification (HN-AD) properties. Under aerobic conditions, the removal of NH-N reached 100 % when the S60 consortium utilised NH-N either as the sole nitrogen source or in combination with NO-N and NO-N. Optimal HN-AD performance was achieved with sodium acetate as a carbon source and a pH of 7.

Ammonium (NH), hydroxylamine (NHOH), nitrite (NO), and nitrate (NO) account for the most important reactive nitrogen (N) species in the N cycle, playing a key role in N elimination and N retention, as well as the production of nitrogenous trace gases. However, it is still challenging to fulfill simultaneous real-time determination of all four N compounds enriched in N. This study successfully established a novel system by coupling an utomatic imultaneous ample reparation unit to a embrane nlet ass pectrometer (4n-ASSP-MIMS) for rapid online N fraction analysis of all four key compounds in the N cycle.

Background: Molnupiravir (MOL) and nirmatrelvir/ritonavir (NIR) decreased mortality and hospital admissions in high-risk patients with mild to moderate COVID-19. Nevertheless, there is a lack of data about the pharmacoeconomic impact of these antivirals in the Omicron era. We conducted a pharmacoeconomic analysis assessing the medical costs of the use of these antivirals compared to those occurred in people who refused the treatment.

Covalent Adaptable Networks from Polyacrylates Based on Oxime-Urethane Bond Exchange Reaction.

Covalent adaptable networks (CANs) are polymer networks cross-linked via dynamic covalent bonds that can proceed with bond exchange reactions upon applying external stimuli. In this report, a series of cross-linked polyacrylate films were fabricated by changing the combination of acrylate monomer and the amount of diacrylate cross-linker possessing oxime-urethane bonds as a kind of dynamic covalent bond to evaluate their rheological relaxation properties. Model analysis of the experimental relaxation curves of cross-linked polyacrylate films was conducted by assuming that they consist of two types of relaxation, one of which is related to the oxime-urethane bond exchange reaction, and another of which is associated with the melting of the aggregated cross-linker.

Antimicrobial compounds play a critical role in combating microbial infections. However, the emergence of antibiotic and antifungal resistance and the scarcity of new antibiotic developments pose a significant threat and demand the discovery of new antimicrobials for both bacterial and fungal pathogens. Our previous work described the first generation () of organoantimony-based compounds that showed antimicrobial activity against several bacterial and fungal pathogens.
