Repeated obstruction and closure of the upper airway, sporadic hypoxic episodes, and sympathetic activity are symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Obstructive sleep apnoea is due to a combination of altered upper airway structure and muscular function, a low arousal threshold and increased loop gain. Although recurrent upper airway (UA) collapse during sleep is the most frequent clinical hallmark of OSA, the exact cause of this collapse is unknown.

Struvite (MgNHPO·6HO) recovered from livestock wastewater may impose a pharmacological threat to the environment, due to the extensive existence of antibiotics in the wastewater. In this study, tetracyclines (TCs) were selected as the typical antibiotics, and the individual processes of dissolved organic matters (DOM) evolution and their effects on TCs migration in struvite recovery from swine wastewater were discriminated and quantified. Results revealed that TCs transport was contributed by the adsorption of pure struvite crystals, struvite adsorbing DOM-TCs complex and DOM aggregation, which occupied 2.

The distribution and elimination kinetics of the water volume in infusion fluids can be studied by volume kinetics. The approach is a modification of drug pharmacokinetics and uses repeated measurements of blood hemoglobin and urinary excretion as input variables in (usually) a two-compartment model with expandable walls. Study results show that crystalloid fluid has a distribution phase that gives these fluids a plasma volume expansion amounting to 50%-60% of the infused volume as long as the infusion lasts, while the fraction is reduced to 15%-20% within 30 minutes after the infusion ends.

Background: The relation between systolic blood pressure (sBP) on admission and the extent of fluid re-distribution in patients with acute heart failure (AHF) remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate this relation.
Methods: We enrolled consecutive patients who were admitted for AHF in our cardiology department and divided them into three groups according to the tertiles of sBP on admission as follows: low, intermediate, and high sBP groups.
