Objective: To study on genotype distribution of rs17321515 which is homologous with Trib1 and its associativity with blood lipid parameters and diagnosis.

Method: Collecting 1 014 blood samples to measure its lipid levels, then detecting rs17321515 locus's SNP by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry technology.

Results: Three genotypes (A/A, A/G, G/G) proportions in the population were 13.8%, 50.2% and 36.0%, allele frequencies were A: G = 38.9% : 61.1%. In variance analysis, variation of TG of male was statistical significant (F = 4.46, P = 0.01), TG level of male who carried AG is lower than GG carries ( t = 0.29, P = 0.02). Logistic regression analysis showed that, hypertriglyceridemia prevalence of male who carried AA is lower than GG carries (OR = 0.45, P = 0.04). Low HDL-c acidosis prevalence of male who carried AG is lower than GG carries (OR = 0.62, P = 0.03). Hypercholesterolemia prevalence of female who carried AG is lower than GG carries (OR = 0.58, P = 0.01).

Conclusion: Allele frequencies of rs17321515 varies in different ethnic groups; The locus' polymorphism distribution is relevant with a certain lipid indicators and lipid diagnosis, but there exist gender differences on these relevance.

Article Synopsis
  • The article evaluates the effectiveness and safety of a combination treatment of atropine (ATR) and omeprazole (OME) for acute gastritis (AG) in comparison to anisodamine (ADM) with OME.
  • The study involved 95 patients, with the ATR+OME group showing a higher success rate, fewer side effects, and quicker symptom relief than the ADM+OME group.
  • Results indicated that the ATR+OME treatment significantly reduced inflammatory markers and gastrointestinal hormone levels, suggesting its strong efficacy and safety for managing AG, making it suitable for wider clinical use.

Background: Anaemia is a major cause of morbidity among children under five years in Uganda. However, its magnitude among refugee populations is marginally documented. In this study, the prevalence and contributors to anaemia among children 6 to 59 months in Kyangwali refugee settlement in Western Uganda was determined.

The possibility of using an oxygen-nitrous oxide mixture for prolonged hypothermic preservation of rat heart for 24 hours was investigated. A comparative analysis of restoration of functional activity of hearts in the groups of 24-hour preservation at +4°C with different gases (O, N) and gas mixtures (CO+O, NO+O, N+O, NO+N) was carried out. It was shown that the presence of oxygen in the gas mixture was the key factor for heart preservation.

The objectives of this study were: (i) to evaluate the associations between postpartum health disorders, relative increase in walking activity (RIWA) and expression of behavioral estrus intensity captured by pedometers; (ii) to assess associations between RIWA and pregnancy in cows submitted to timed artificial insemination (TAI). Lactating dairy cows (n = 881) were enrolled in the study. Cows were submitted to a 5d TAI protocol with insertion of a progesterone device.
