Double perovskite La2BMnO6 (B = Ni and Co) nanoparticles with average particle size of ~50 nm were synthesized using a facile, environmentally friendly, and scalable molten-salt reaction at 700 °C in air. Their structural and morphological properties were characterized by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Their magnetic properties were evaluated and compared using dc magnetic M-T and M-H, and ac magnetic susceptibility versus frequency, temperature, and field for the first time. The dc magnetization curves show paramagnetic-ferromagnetic transitions at TC∼ 275 and 220 K for La2NiMnO6 (LNMO) and La2CoMnO6 (LCMO) nanoparticles, respectively. ac susceptibility revealed that the LCMO nanoparticles had a single magnetic transition indicative of Co(2+)-O(2-)-Mn(4+) ordering, whereas the LNMO nanoparticles showed more complex magnetic behaviors suggesting a re-entrant spin glass.

Stabilizing large easy-axis type magnetic anisotropy in molecular complexes is a challenging task, yet it is crucial for the development of information storage devices and applications in molecular spintronics. Achieving this requires a deep understanding of electronic structure and the relationships between structure and properties to develop magneto-structural correlations that are currently unexplored in the literature. Herein, a series of five-coordinate distorted square pyramidal Co complexes [Co(L)(X)].

In this work, Ge vacancies and doping with transition metals (Mn and Fe) are proposed to modulate the electronic and magnetic properties of GeP monolayers. A pristine GeP monolayer is a non-magnetic two-dimensional (2D) material, exhibiting indirect gap semiconductor behavior with an energy gap of 1.34(2.

Magnetic chromatography was exploited to fractionate suspensions of magnetoliposomes (SML: lumen-free lipid-encapsulated clusters of multiple magnetic iron-oxide nanoparticles) improving their colloidal properties and relaxivity (magnetic resonance image contrast capability). Fractionation (i) removed sub-populations that do not contribute to the MRI response, and thus (ii) enabled evaluation of the size-dependence of relaxivity for the MRI-active part, which was surprisingly weak in the 55-90 nm range. MC was therefore implemented for processing multiple PEGylated SML types having average sizes ranging from 85 to 105 nm, which were then shown to have strongly size-dependent uptake in an pancreatic cancer model.

Modulating the electronic properties of VSiN with high Curie temperature to realize an ideal half-metal is appealing towards spintronic applications. Here, by using first-principles calculations, we propose alloying the VSiN monolayer via substitutive doping of transition metal atoms (Sc-Ni, Y-Mo) at the V site. We find that the transition metal atom (except the Ni atom) doped VSiN systems have dynamical and thermal stability.

Three new sodium manganese fluoro-pyrophosphate compounds, namely, NaMn(PO)F (I), NaMn(PO)F (II), and NaMn(PO)F (III), have been synthesized by heating a mixture of NaPF, NaPOF or NaHPO with different Mn sources in NaNO and KNO fluxes. The structures of the title compounds were characterized single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD). II is characteristic of a shell of Na ions that encloses one [Mn(PO)F] unit, whereas I and III reveal three-dimensional (3D) frameworks that consist of MnO, Mn/NaOF octahedra or MnO octahedra and distorted MnO square pyramids with PO units, where Na cations reside in different-membered ring one-dimensional (1D) tunnels.
