Objective: To understand the changes of transmission factors of schistosomiasis after the control strategy of replacing bovine with machine was implemented in the lake region, so as to provide the evidence for long-effective management in marshlands.
Methods: Two villages, which had carried out the control measure of replacing bovine with machine, were selected as observed villages. The data of endemic situation before and after the replacement were collected and analyzed. The species, activities, and stool distributions of infectious resources were surveyed.
Results: After the replacement was implemented in 2005, the densities of infected Oncomelania snails gradually decreased in the marshlands from 2006 to 2008; in 2009 and 2010, the densities of infected snails were both zero. The positive rates of stool examinations of residents in the villages decreased from 11.35% in 2004 to 0 in 2009 and 2010. There was still bovine and pig grazing on most of the marshlands, and 41 wild stools were examined with the negative results.
Conclusion: After replacing bovine with machine is implemented, the marshlands are cleaned continuously, but there are still a few livestock on the marshlands which need to be managed.

Investigate the impact of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) using different photosensitizers (PSs) such as indocyanine green (IG), curcumin (CC), and methylene blue (MB), with or without intracanal application of calcium hydroxide (CH), on the push-out bond strength of glass-fiber posts (GFPs) to intraradicular dentin, the chemical composition of the root substrate, and the sealing of the adhesive interface across different thirds of intraradicular dentin. A total of 112 bovine teeth underwent biomechanical preparation and were divided into eight experimental groups (n = 14 each): Negative control with deionized water; positive control with deionized water + CH; IG group with indocyanine green and infrared laser; IG + CH group; CC group with curcumin and blue LED; CC + CH group; MB group with methylene blue and red laser; and MB + CH group. The push-out bond strength was measured using a universal testing machine (n = 8), and scanning electron microscopy characterized the fracture patterns.

Economic losses in cattle farms are frequently associated with failed pregnancies. Some studies found that the transcriptomic profiles of blood and endometrial tissues in cattle with varying pregnancy outcomes display discrepancies even before artificial insemination (AI) or embryo transfer (ET). In the study, 330 samples from seven distinct sources and two tissue types were integrated and divided into two groups based on the ability to establish and maintain pregnancy after AI or ET: P (pregnant) and NP (nonpregnant).

The development of optical sensors for label-free quantification of cell parameters has numerous uses in the biomedical arena. However, using current optical probes requires the laborious collection of sufficiently large datasets that can be used to calibrate optical probe signals to true metabolite concentrations. Further, most practitioners find it difficult to confidently adapt black box chemometric models that are difficult to troubleshoot in high-stakes applications such as biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

Culicoides biting midges adversely impact animal health through transmission of multiple orbiviruses, such as bluetongue virus (BTV). This study used light trapping data collected in the Southeastern United States for three Culicoides midge species that are confirmed or suspected BTV vectors: Culicoides insignis, Culicoides stellifer and Culicoides venustus. Midge presence datasets were combined with meteorological data and ecological data to model habitat suitability for each species.

Mannheimia haemolytica is one of the most common causative agents of bovine respiratory disease (BRD); however, antibiotic resistance in this species is increasing, making treatment more difficult. Integrative-conjugative elements (ICE), a subset of mobile genetic elements (MGE), encoding up to 100 genes have been reported in Mannheimia haemolytica genomes to confer multidrug resistance, including resistance to antibiotics commonly used in the treatment of BRD. However, the presence of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) does not always agree with phenotypic resistance.
