Cyathostomins are the most abundant equid endoparasites globally. There are approximately fifty cyathostomin species and, whilst they occupy distinct niches within the large intestine, they are generally considered to share similar characteristics in terms of pathogenicity and response to drug treatment. There are three classes of anthelmintic licensed in the UK to treat cyathostomins (benzimidazoles, tetrahydropyrimidines and macrocyclic lactones) and cases of resistance have been documented for all classes.

Extensive use of avermectin (AVM) in agriculture can seriously contaminate fish in aquaculture. Ferulic acid (FA) is a strong antioxidant sourced from plants and is widely applied in food and medicine, but its protective function on the immunological damage caused by AVM is still lacking. In this study, carp were chronically exposed to (1/10 96 hr LC) AVM for 30 day(s), with a dietary supplement of FA (400 mg/kg) to assess its effects on carp spleen.

Mansonella perstans infections are widespread in Sub-Saharan Africa and Central and South America and thus can be considered as the most prevalent parasite of man in tropical Africa. In contrast to the high prevalence, knowledge about the biology of this filarial nematode is restricted and no effective treatment regimens of this ivermectin-resistant parasite is lacking. An obstacle for the research is that M.
