A large-scale synthetic strategy is developed for facile one-pot aqueous synthesis of silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs) yielding ∼0.1 g SiNPs of small sizes (∼2.2 nm) in 10 min. The as-prepared SiNPs feature strong fluorescence (photoluminescence quantum yield of 20-25%), favorable biocompatibility, and robust photo- and pH-stability. Moreover, the SiNPs are naturally water dispersible, requiring no additional post-treatment. Such SiNPs can serve as highly photostable bioprobes and are superbly suitable for long-term immunofluorescent cellular imaging.

This study focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of the photocatalytic efficiency of bismuth-based metal-organic frameworks (Bi-MOFs) and their derivatives, specifically Ag/Bi-MOF and NH /Ag/Bi-MOF, in the degradation of tetracycline (TC) and sulfamethoxazole (SMX) under visible light irradiation. Bi-MOFs are promising photocatalysts due to their large surface area, tunable porosity, and unique electronic properties that are favorable for visible light absorption. In this study, Bi-MOFs were synthesized using a solvothermal method, with the incorporation of silver (Ag) and ammonium (NH ) ions to enhance their photocatalytic performance.

Studies presenting visible-light-induced desulfurization of peptides containing a cysteine residue have been carried out. This transformation driven by light-emitting-diode-type light proceeds with high efficiency in an aqueous solution at room temperature and involves the use of a catalytic amount of photosensitizer, Rose Bengal. The procedure has been tested on model synthetic peptides, lysozyme C and α-crystallin, and successfully applied to a one-pot native chemical ligation (NCL)-desulfurization protocol.

The development of aqueous zinc metal batteries (AZMBs) is hampered by dendrites and side reactions induced by reactive HO. In this study, a hydrated eutectic electrolyte with restrictive water consisting of zinc trifluoromethanesulfonate (Zn(OTf)), 1,3-propanediol (PDO), and water is developed to improve the stability of the anode/electrolyte interface in AZMBs via the formation of a water-deficient interface. Additionally, PDO participates in the Zn solvation structure and inhibits the movement of water molecules.

The synthesis of polyferrocenyldimethylsilane-b-poly(L-glutamic acid) block copolymers was systematically explored. Rod-like and plate-like micelles were prepared from self-assembly of the block copolymers in aqueous solution with two different approaches.
