Aim: The present cross-sectional study was carried out to determine the prevalence of depression among the elderly, and to examine the relationship between depression and dependency in activities of daily living.
Material-methods: According to the records of the Beylikova Community Health Center, there were 251 individuals aged 65 years and older living in the town center, and 203 (80.8%) of them had been reached. The depression status was assessed by using the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), Katz's Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Scale, and Lawton and Brody's Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) Scale. Among the statistical analyses, the χ(2) -test and Spearman's correlation analysis were used. A value of P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.
Results: The prevalence of depression was found to be 45.8% (93 persons). The prevalence of depression was significantly higher in women, in those with a history of any chronic disease and in those living alone. The scores on the GDS and thus the severity of depression decreased with increasing scores on ADL and IADL scales (for each, P < 0.05).
Conclusion: Depression seen in nearly every second older individual implies that the problem is very common. It was concluded that primary healthcare should be integrated into community-based care, and it would be appropriate to plan early diagnosis and treatment programs for the elderly.

This prospective cohort study is aimed to investigate circadian variations in corneal parameters, focusing on sleep-deprived subjects. Sixty-four healthy individuals (age range: 21-76 years) actively participated in this study, undergoing examinations at least five times within a 24-hour timeframe. The analysis encompassed keratometric parameters of the cornea's front (F) and back (B) surfaces, refractive power in flattest and steepest axes (K1, K2), astigmatism (Astig) and its axis (Axis), aspheric coefficient (Asph), corneal pachymetry values of thinnest corneal thickness (Pachy Min) and corneal thickness in the center of the pupil (Pachy Pupil), volume relative to the 3 and 10 mm corneal diagonal (Vol D3, Vol D10) and surface variance index (ISV).

Large-scale and detailed analyses of activity in the United States (US) remain limited. In this work, we leveraged the comprehensive wearable, demographic, and survey data from the All of Us Research Program, the largest and most diverse population health study in the US to date, to apply and extend the previous global findings on activity inequality within the context of the US. We found that daily steps differed by sex at birth, age, body characteristics, geography, and built environment.

Background: Prevention of iron deficiency in suckling piglets by intramuscular injection of a standardized amount of iron dextran or gleptoferron in the first days of life can lead to over- or underdosage with respective health risks. Currently, combined iron products containing an active substance against coccidia are also used on farms. When using a combination product targeting two diseases, an adjustment of the necessary amount of iron to prevent anaemia in the frame of a farm-specific treatment protocol is not possible.

Background: Physical activity and exercise are promoted worldwide as effective interventions for healthy ageing. Various exercise initiatives have been developed and evaluated for their efficacy and effectiveness among older populations. However, a deeper understanding of participants' experiences with these initiatives is crucial to foster long-term activity and exercise among older persons.
