A 44-year-old woman suffered from epigastralgia for 1 month. An abdominal sonography revealed a space-occupying lesion, about 6 cm, in the spleen. Contrast-enhanced CT revealed enhanced splenic lesions. The PET/CT showed FDG-avid multiple splenic nodules with a "prunes on bread" appearance in the maximum-intensity-projection image (MIP image). In sectional PET/CT images, a central cold area with peripheral increased FDG uptake in the splenic nodule is visible. Because splenic malignancy was suspected, laparoscopic splenectomy was performed. Histology revealed multiple nodules with angiomatoid appearance, CD31(+), CD34(+) and HHV-8(-) in the vascular space, typical for the rare sclerosing angiomatoid nodular transformation (SANT).

Aim: While most splenic ruptures manifest as immediate hemorrhage, a minority of patients experience delayed rupture, which occurs days to weeks after the initial trauma. Although there have been reports of delayed splenic rupture following trauma, the exact pathophysiology of this condition and the appropriate treatment remain contentious. This article aims to further discuss and summarize the diagnosis and treatment protocols for delayed traumatic rupture of the spleen through the collection and analysis of existing clinical data, combined with previous literature.

Infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV) is a major aquaculture threat, highlighting the need for effective antiviral agents. This study evaluates the arctigenin derivative COA for its antiviral potential against IHNV. COA demonstrated no cytotoxicity to EPC cells at concentrations up to 10 μM and inhibited over 90% of IHNV gene expression in vitro.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a heterogeneous malignancy characterized by the uncontrolled proliferation of myeloid cells, and despite recent treatment advances, patient outcomes remain suboptimal. The cytoplasmic spleen tyrosine kinase (SYK) has emerged as a promising therapeutic target in AML due to its role in promoting leukemic cell survival, proliferation, and chemoresistance. This study investigates in vitro antiproliferative effects of SYK inhibitors on leukemia cells by analyzing 48 primary AML samples treated with five SYK inhibitors: fostamatinib, entospletinib, cerdulatinib, TAK-659, and RO9021.

A man in his early 60s, with a history of obstructive airway disease and hypertension, had a fall from a height 1 year ago. He developed a fracture of the left distal tibia and fibula, for which open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) was done. Since then, he has had persistent pain and discharge from the implant site, for which multiple antibiotics were given and debridement was done numerous times.
