Objective: To show the use of Linear Programming to evaluate the performance of Oral Health in Primary Care.
Methods: This study used data from 19 municipalities of Santa Catarina city that participated of the state evaluation in 2009 and have more than 50,000 habitants. A total of 40 indicators were evaluated, calculated using the Microsoft Excel 2007, and converted to the interval [0, 1] in ascending order (one indicating the best situation and zero indicating the worst situation). Applying the Linear Programming technique municipalities were assessed and compared among them according to performance curve named "quality estimated frontier". Municipalities included in the frontier were classified as excellent. Indicators were gathered, and became synthetic indicators.
Results: The majority of municipalities not included in the quality frontier (values different of 1.0) had lower values than 0.5, indicating poor performance. The model applied to the municipalities of Santa Catarina city assessed municipal management and local priorities rather than the goals imposed by pre-defined parameters. In the final analysis three municipalities were included in the "perceived quality frontier".
Conclusion: The Linear Programming technique allowed to identify gaps that must be addressed by city managers to enhance actions taken. It also enabled to observe each municipal performance and compare results among similar municipalities.

Real-time online optimisation plays a crucial role in high-frequency trading (HFT) strategies. The Markowitz model, as a Nobel Prize-winning framework, is widely used for portfolio management optimisation by framing the problem as a constrained quadratic programming task. While conventional analytical methods are typically effective for solving quadratic programming problems with linear constraints, the introduction of both linear equality and inequality constraints in the Markowitz model necessitates the use of numerical methods.

Sensors are indispensable tools of modern life that are ubiquitously used in diverse settings ranging from smartphones and autonomous vehicles to the healthcare industry and space technology. By interfacing multiple sensors that collectively interact with the signal to be measured, one can go beyond the signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) attainable by the individual constituting elements. Such techniques have also been implemented in the quantum regime, where a linear increase in the SNR has been achieved via using entangled states.

Epidemiological research aims to investigate how multiple exposures affect health outcomes of interest, but observational studies often suffer from biases caused by unmeasured confounders. In this study, we develop a novel sensitivity model to investigate the effect of correlated multiple exposures on the continuous health outcomes of interest. The proposed sensitivity analysis is model-agnostic and can be applied to any machine learning algorithm.

Background: Discontinuous transcription allows coronaviruses to efficiently replicate and transmit within host cells, enhancing their adaptability and survival. Assembling viral transcripts is crucial for virology research and the development of antiviral strategies. However, traditional transcript assembly methods primarily designed for variable alternative splicing events in eukaryotes are not suitable for the viral transcript assembly problem.

Improving efficiency has long been a focal challenge in sampling literature. However, simultaneously enhancing estimator efficacy and optimizing survey costs is a practical necessity across various fields such as medicine, agriculture, and transportation. In this study, we present a comprehensive family of generalized exponential estimators specifically designed for estimating population means within stratified sampling frameworks.
