Unlabelled: Oral mucosa is one of the specific surfaces of the human body, which is permanently exposed to external factors related with food intake, breathing and speaking processes, which can lead to the onset of some problems. Disorders of the oral mucosa are a group of diseases, affecting, in the course of life, the majority of the population. Many of the oral mucosa ailments are manifested by lesions. Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is the most common of these diseases. Despite much clinical and research attention, its causes remain poorly understood and treatment is only symptomatic. RAS is reported to affect up to 25% of the population worldwide. Topical or systemic therapy (corticosteroids, antiseptics, anti-inflamatory drugs, immunomodulating agents, etc.) can be used for treatment of RAS-associated symptoms. In general, topical therapy should be preferred due to the smaller drug load of the organism. In both cases, the active substance has to be in suitable dosage form. Recently, besides the conventional ways of application (rinses), the main disadvantage of which is the short time of resistance in the oral cavity, mucoadhesive dosage forms are used. The aim of this article is to give a theoretical overview of the oral mucosa topic and its most frequent disease - recurrent aphthous stomatitis in terms of various types of the disease classification, diagnosis and therapy, and in terms of the usage of various types of active substances and medical forms.
Keywords: oral mucosa recurrent aphthous stomatitis therapy mucoadhesive dosage forms.

Butyrate may decrease intestinal inflammation and diarrhea. This study investigates the impact of oral application of sodium butyrate (NaB) and tributyrin (TB) on colonic butyrate concentration, SCFA transporter expression, colonic absorptive function, barrier properties, inflammation, and microbial composition in the colon of slc26a3 mice, a mouse model for inflammatory diarrhea. In vivo fluid absorption and bicarbonate secretory rates were evaluated in the cecum and mid-colon of slc26a3 and slc26a3 mice before and during luminal perfusion of NaB-containing saline and were significantly stimulated in both slc26a3 and slc26a3 colon by NaB.

Background: Melanocytic neoplasms are rare in the oral cavity and represent a diagnostic challenge due to the overlap between benign and malignant lesions. However, their pathogenesis is not fully elucidated. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression of the cell cycle-related proteins p16, CDK4, and PTEN in oral melanocytic nevi and melanomas.

Purpose: To compare the erectile and urinary functions of ventral and dorsal onlay buccal mucosal graft (BMG) urethroplasty in the management of proximal bulbar urethral strictures (PBUS) in sexually active men.
Patients And Methods: We retrospectively included patients with primary non-traumatic PBUS who were treated with (BMG) urethroplasty at our department between March 2019 and March 2023 either ventral or dorsal approaches. Patients were assessed at 3- and 12-months postoperatively for urinary and erectile functions.

() infection is a typical microbial agent that interferes with the complex mechanisms of gastric homeostasis by disrupting the balance between the host gastric microbiota and mucosa-related factors, ultimately leading to inflammatory changes, dysbiosis, and gastric cancer (GC). We searched this field on the basis of PubMed, Google Scholar, Web of Science, and Scopus databases. Most studies show that inhibits the colonization of other bacteria, resulting in a less variety of bacteria in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.
