Within the hospital based imaging department at Methodist Willowbrook, outpatient, inpatient, and emergency patients are all performed on the same equipment with the same staff. The critical nature of the patient is the deciding factor as to who gets done first and in what order procedures are performed. After an aggressive adoption of Intentional Tools, the imaging department was finally able to move from a two year mean Press Ganey, outpatient satisfaction average score of 91.2 and UHC percentile ranking of 37th to a mean average of 92.1 and corresponding UHC ranking of 60th percentile. It was at the 60th percentile ranking that the department flat lined. Using the Six Sigma DMAIC process, opportunity for further improvement was identified. A two week focus pilot was conducted specifically on areas identified through the Six Sigma process. The department was able to jump to 88th percentile ranking and a mean of 93.7. With pay for performance focusing on outpatient satisfaction and a financial incentive to improving and maintaining the highest scores, it was important to know where the imaging department should apply its financial resources to obtain the greatest impact.

Direct translocation of RNA with secondary structures using single-molecule electrophoresis through protein nanopores shows significant fluctuations in the measured ionic current, in contrast to unstructured single-stranded RNA or DNA. We developed a multiscale model combining the oxRNA model for RNA with the 3-dimensional Poisson-Nernst-Planck formalism for electric fields within protein pores, aiming to map RNA conformations to ionic currents as RNA translocates through three protein nanopores: α-hemolysin, CsgG, and MspA. Our findings reveal three distinct stages of translocation (pseudoknot, melting, and molten globule) based on contact maps and current values.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that results from the progressive loss of neurons in the brain followed by symptoms such as slowness and rigidity in movement, sleep disorders, dementia and many more. The different mechanisms due to which the neuronal degeneration occurs have been discussed, such as mutation in PD related genes, formation of Lewy bodies, oxidation of dopamine. This review discusses current surgical treatment and gene therapies with novel developments proposed for PD.

Objective: The aim of this study was to develop and validate predictive models for perineural invasion (PNI) in gastric cancer (GC) using clinical factors and radiomics features derived from contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CE-CT) scans and to compare the performance of these models.
Methods: This study included 205 GC patients, who were randomly divided into a training set (n=143) and a validation set (n=62) in a 7:3 ratio. Optimal radiomics features were selected using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) algorithm.

Introduction: Pneumocephalus and pneumorrhachis are rare postoperative complications, commonly occurring within a few days to months after spinal surgery. They are very rarely reported after thoracic surgeries. This case highlights a unique presentation in the emergency department involving headache and vomiting caused by late complications following thoracic surgery with a titanium rib implant.
