Focused on Mtb: A facile hydroxyindole carboxylic acid based focused amide library was designed to target both the PTP active site and a unique nearby pocket for enhanced affinity and selectivity. HTS of the library led to the identification of a highly potent and selective inhibitor, 11 a, of mPTPB, an essential virulence factor for Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Compound 11 a shows high cellular activity and is capable of reversing the altered immune responses induced by mPTPB in macrophages.

A one-pot three-component reaction based on an oxidative dearomatization strategy has been performed to provide facile access to 5-hydroxyindole derivatives through a ZnI-catalyzed tandem process. The multi-unit reactions for the construction of a new C-C bond and two C-N bonds are simple and efficient under mild conditions, and the yield of the target product is as high as 91%.

Herein, an electrochemical biosensing platform with acetylcholinesterase (AChE)-catalyzed silver deposition was developed for the ultrasensitive detection of organophosphorus pesticides (OPs). The biosensing mechanism is based on the fact that AChE can catalyze the rapid hydrolysis of indoxyl acetate to form hydroxyindole, which in turn reduces silver ions to metallic silver, resulting in the deposition of silver on the gold electrode. Upon sweeping positive voltages on the gold electrode using linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), the deposited silver on the gold electrode surface undergoes a rapid electrochemical oxidation reaction.

A novel porous organic material 4-hydroxyindole-formaldehyde/NaOH (4-HIF/NaOH) aerogel was prepared a facile polymerization, soaking in NaOH aqueous solution and ambient drying method. 4-HIF/NaOH aerogel porous polymer networks with high surface area have been applied as efficient adsorbents to remove methylene blue from wastewater synergistic effects of cation-π interaction induced electrostatic interaction, electrostatic interaction and π-π interaction. The adsorption capacity calculated by adsorption isotherms at 303 K was 1016.

Aims: Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) play an important role in regulating a wide range of cellular processes. Understanding the role of PTPs within these processes has been hampered by a lack of potent and selective PTP inhibitors. Generating potent and selective probes for PTPs remains a significant challenge because of the highly conserved and positively charged PTP active site that also harbors a redox-sensitive Cys residue.
