The authors report a case of nontraumatic orbital subperiosteal hematoma after general anesthesia with patient in the prone position. The patient, who was on aspirin, clopidogrel, and subcutaneous heparin, presented immediately after sacral ulcer debridement with acute bilateral vision loss and periorbital edema. While the OD improved with conservative management, the OS continued to have 20/200 vision, decreased color vision, afferent pupillary defect, and extraocular movement limitation after lateral canthotomy and cantholysis.

To develop a safer bone-bonding device that promotes early osseointegration with cortical bone perforation, novel subperiosteal device geometries were proposed and evaluated for their ability to facilitate surrounding bone formation and enhance bone-bonding strength. This study used animal experiments and mechanical testing to assess the performance of these designs. The experimental device consisted of two main components: a rounded rectangular plate and a centrally positioned cylinder.

Pott's puffy tumor is a rare complication of frontal sinusitis characterized by frontal bone osteomyelitis with a subperiosteal abscess typically presenting with forehead swelling. We herein report a 21-year-old man with Pott's puffy tumor presenting as eyelid swelling on the opposite side of the sinusitis, without typical forehead swelling. Initially treated for sinusitis and pre-septal cellulitis with poor response, head magnetic resonance imaging revealed bilateral subdural abscesses and osteomyelitis of the frontal and bilateral parietal bones, leading to the diagnosis.
