Objective: To describe the cases of oral and maxillofacial tumors (OMFT) resection and defects reconstruction under submandibular intubation (SMI) performed in our institution; secondly, to systematically review and analyze the characteristics of studies about SMI in oral and maxillofacial surgery to estimate the incidence rate of complication.
Method: Data related to all 6 patients included in this study were prospectively collected from November 2016 to November 2023. The tract for endotracheal tube was created by bluntly dissection from the submandibular area to the floor of mouth.

A 34-year-old male patient with recently diagnosed with medullary thyroid carcinoma underwent total thyroidectomy and radical neck dissection, requiring sharp dissection to separate the tumour from the trachea. He required post operative intubation due to bilateral vocal cord paralysis. He developed ischaemic necrosis of the upper two thirds of the trachea presenting with marked surgical emphysema and an infective wound.

There is a lack of clear guidance on whether to retain or remove a previously inserted supraglottic airway device (SAD) before eFONA. We aimed to study the effect of both neck extension and insertion of an SAD on sagittal cricothyroid membrane (CTM) height.

Background: A systematic appraisal of the comparative efficacy and safety profiles of naso-intestinal tube versus gastric tube feeding in the context of enteral nutrition for mechanically ventilated (MV) patients is imperative. Such an evaluation is essential to inform clinical practice, ensuring that the chosen method of nutritional support is both optimal and safe for this patient population.
Methods: We executed an exhaustive search across PubMed et al.

The incidence of arytenoid dislocation in abdominal surgery is relatively high, the cause is unknown, and it has not received sufficient attention. To identify the risk factors of arytenoid dislocation after abdominal surgery, and to establish a clinical prediction model based on relevant clinicopathological characteristics. We retrospectively collected the clinical data of 50 patients with arytenoid dislocation (AD) and 200 patients without AD after abdominal surgery with general anesthetic tracheal intubation in our Hospital from January 2013 to December 2019.
