Sound scattering by a system of two counter-rotating vortices (Lamb dipole) is considered, using the effective approach of Pitaevskii [J. Exp. Theor. Phys (USSR) 35, 1271-1275 (1958); Sov. Phys. JETP 85, 888-890 (1959)], based on application of the asymptotic representation of the scattering Green function, the Dirac delta function modeling of the vortex, and the Fourier transformation of the vector of scattering. The sound frequency is supposed to be low. The directivity pattern of the radiation, scattered by the Lamb dipole is obtained. There is no singularity in scattering field in this case as it must be for the vorticity with zero circulation, so the dipole is a more appropriate object for the approximation used.

Pile driving for offshore wind turbines typically generates high sound levels in the water column. Bubble curtains are frequently employed to protect marine fauna. This study aims to investigate the effect of a bubble curtain on the generated sound wave field.

Topological acoustic waveguides have a potential for applications in the precise transmission of sound. Currently, there is more attention to multi-band in this field. However, achieving tunability of the operating band is also of great significance.

The utilization of acoustic fields offers a contactless approach for microparticle manipulation in a miniaturized system, and plays a significant role in medicine, biology, chemistry, and engineering. Due to the acoustic radiation force arising from the scattering of the acoustic waves, small particles in the Rayleigh scattering range can be trapped, whilst their impact on the acoustic field is negligible. Manipulating larger particles in the Mie scattering regime is challenging due to the diverse scattering modes, which impacts the local acoustic field.

The recovery of the properties or geometry of a rough surface from scattered sound is of interest in many applications, including medicine, water engineering, or structural health monitoring. Existing approaches to reconstruct the roughness profile of a scattering surface based on wave scattering have no intrinsic way of predicting the uncertainty of the reconstruction. In an attempt to recover this uncertainty, a Bayesian framework, and more explicitly, an adaptive Metropolis scheme, is used to infer the properties of a rough surface, parameterised as a superposition of sinusoidal components.

This work aimed to investigate the effects of ultrasound assisted enzymatic deamidation by protein-glutaminase (PG) on the dispersion of myofibrillar protein (MP) in low-salt solutions. The solubility, structural characteristics, transmission electron microscopy, asymmetric-flow field-flow fractionation, steady shear rheological property and multiple light scattering of MP deamidated by PG (MP-PG) and MP pretreated with ultrasound followed by PG deamidation (MP-U-PG) were determined. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were used to estimate the interaction between PG and MP.
