To fully integrate quantum optical technology, active quantum systems must be combined with resonant microstructures and optical interconnects harvesting and routing photons in three diemsnsions (3D) on one chip. We fabricate such combined structures for the first time by using two-photon laser lithography and a photoresist containing nanodiamonds including nitrogen vacancy-centers. As an example for possible functionality, single-photon generation, collection, and transport is successfully accomplished. The single photons are efficiently collected via resonators and routed in 3D through waveguides, all on one optical chip. Our one-step fabrication scheme is easy to implement, scalable and flexible. Thus, other complex assemblies of 3D quantum optical structures are feasible as well.

This study uses the Quantum ESPRESSO code to introduce Hubbard correction (U) to the density functional theory (DFT) in order to examine the effects of non-metals (C, F, N, and S) doping on the structural, electronic, and optical characteristics of rutile TiO. Rutile TiO is a substance that shows promise for use in renewable energy production, including fuels and solar energy, as well as environmental cleanup. Its wide bandgap, however, restricts their uses to areas with UV light.

The hybrid magnetic heterostructures and superlattices, composed of organic and inorganic materials, have shown great potential for quantum computing and next-generation information technology. Organic materials generally possess designable structural motifs and versatile optical, electronic, and magnetic properties, but are too delicate for robust integration into solid-state devices. In contrast, inorganic systems provide robust solid-state interface and excellent electronic properties but with limited customization space.

Graphene quantum dots (GQDs) have emerged as promising materials for electrochemiluminescence (ECL) applications due to their unique optical and electronic properties. In this study, GQDs were synthesized via electrochemical exfoliation of graphite in a constant current density mode, enabling scalable production with controlled size and surface functionalization. GQDs-4 and GQDs-20, synthesized at applied current densities of 4 mA/cm2 and 20 mA/cm2 to the graphite electrode, respectively, were investigated on roles of surface states and exciplex dominated aggregation-induced emission (AIE) in their ECL performance.

The advent of two-dimensional van der Waals materials is a frontier of condensed matter physics and quantum devices. However, characterizing such materials remains challenging due to the limitations of bulk material techniques, necessitating the development of specialized methods. Here, we investigate the superconducting properties of BiSrCaCuO flakes by integrating them with a hybrid superconducting microwave resonator.

Lowering the population inversion threshold is key to leveraging quantum dots (QDs) for nanoscale lasing and laser miniaturization. However, optical realization of population inversion in QDs has an inherent limitation: the number of excited electrons per QD is bound by the absorbed photons. Here we show that one can break this population limit and realize near-zero threshold inversion plasmonic doping.
