Rationale: Aortoesophageal fistula (AEF) is an exceedingly rare yet critically life-threatening condition, with mortality rates nearing 100% if not addressed promptly. AEF often develops in the context of thoracic aortic aneurysms, esophageal malignancies, or as a complication of foreign body ingestion and prior thoracic aortic surgeries. This study reports an exceptionally severe and clinically rare case of AEF associated with a pseudaneurysm induced by esophageal stenting.

Pancreatic cancer is usually diagnosed at a late stage and is characterized by early systemic metastases, which can also be present in the form of micrometastases that are not primarily visible. Lymphatic metastases in pancreatic cancer are common. The extent of lymph node removal (lymphadenectomy, LAD) in pancreatic cancer is defined in the guidelines of the Association of the Scientific Medical Societies in Germany (AWMF) and according to currently available data has more diagnostic and prognostic relevance than therapeutic relevance; however, within the framework of modern multimodal treatment algorithms, radical surgery is the most relevant of all components of multimodal treatment with LAD playing an important role.

Background: The vascularized free fibular flap is increasingly recognized as the standard technique for the repair of complex soft tissue and hard tissue defects in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Conventionally, the vascular supply to the skin island is derived from the distal perforators of the peroneal artery. However, complications may arise if these distal perforators are either absent or damaged during surgical procedures, highlighting the necessity to employ the proximal peroneal perforators as an alternative.

Background: Opioid crisis is a national issue with significant economic burden and marked increase in opioid-related deaths, particularly following surgical procedures. The patterns of brain activation and functional connectivity, task-related and task-free, as a function of age have been well documented over the past 30 years. However, the aging brain undergoes structural changes that are likely to affect the functional properties of the brain. The relationship between brain structure and function started to be investigated more recently.
