During the past 60 years, there has been a major transition in the way golf is played in America. Its potential as exercise largely has been negated by the increase in motorized golf cart usage to approximately two of every three rounds played in this country. Accidents in golf carts have increased rapidly, which, by making the sport more dangerous, will likely bring future regulations. Consequently, playing golf has gradually become more of a public health threat than a benefit. The motorized cart also has resulted in an almost doubling of the size of golf courses, which now occupy a large amount of the built environment designated for activity. These changes are a major loss to society, portend future problems, and call for the sport to reevaluate its current model.

Golfers must modify their motor patterns when the demands of a putting task change. The objective was to compare joint angles and putter kinematics during putting at two distances and inclines. Recreational golfers ( = 14) completed putts over four conditions: 3-foot putts on flat and incline surfaces, and 7-foot putts on flat and incline surfaces.

Aerial applications of pesticides for adult mosquito control have emerged as effective tools in integrated mosquito management due to wider reach compared with ground-based methods. A key determinant for efficacy is the swath or line of spray deposition. This study aimed to assess the potential of aerial buffer sprays, which specifically target mosquito habitats, in comparison to traditional full-area aerial and ground-based applications.

Non-typhoid Salmonella (NTS) includes many serotypes that differ in host, geographic distribution, and virulence. We report the case of a 64-year-old man who developed enteritis caused by Salmonella Kedougou without bacteremia after returning from Thailand. The patient stayed in Chiang Mai, Thailand, for 10 days to play golf and was hospitalized with fever, chills, watery diarrhea, and vomiting on the day the patient returned to Japan.

Context: Guidelines for various movement assessments often instruct clinicians to conduct testing without a warm-up. Warm-ups are commonly performed to increase heart rate, decrease stiffness, and prepare for sport-specific demands. Since athletes typically complete a warm-up prior to sport participation, evaluating biomechanics in this condition may provide a better indication of their bodies' physical capabilities.

Amyloid fibrils are highly stable misfolded protein assemblies that play an important role in several neurodegenerative and systemic diseases. Although structural information of the amyloid state is now abundant, mechanistic details about the misfolding process remain elusive. Inspired by the Φ-value analysis of protein folding, we combined experiments and molecular simulations to resolve amino-acid contacts and determine the structure of the transition-state ensemble-the rate-limiting step-for fibril elongation of PI3K-SH3 amyloid fibrils.
