[The invisible reality of informal nursing].

Informal care was the subject of nursing research carried out by two psychiatric nurses. The investigation showed the importance within nursing of informal care, often confined to qualities associated with gender and the maternal function. A review of the pathway of the researchers, with a presentation of the choice of this research theme, a methodological resume and an overview of the results.
