An internal contamination with (241)Am was detected in a worker during a routine monitoring of workers from a company producing Am sources for smoke detectors and Am-Be neutron sources. During the 4-year period after the exposure, the number of urine and faecal samples from the worker were analysed; in vivo measurements were also performed. Specific values for absorption parameters of the human respiratory tract model and particle transport values were applied to improve the model fit to the measurement data. A good agreement of the bioassay data with the so-modified model predictions was obtained.

Since the early 1990s, there has been a dramatic rise in gastrointestinal cancers diagnosed in patients under age 50 for reasons that remain poorly understood. The most significant change has been the increase in incidence rates of early-onset colorectal cancer, especially rates of left-sided colon and rectal cancers. Increases in gastric, pancreatic, and other gastrointestinal cancer diagnoses have further contributed to this trend.

In this study, we present an intelligent electromagnetic-actuated microfluidic chip integrated with a G-quadruplex DNAzyme-based biocatalysis platform for rapid and sensitive tetracycline (TC) detection. In this sensing system, TC significantly quenches fluorescent magnetic carbon dots (M-CDs) via the internal filtration effect and dynamic quenching (the excitation and emission wavelength at 350 and 440 nm, respectively). Then, the G-quadruplex on the M-CDs-Aptamer is exposed and bound with hemin to form hemin-G-quadruplex DNAzyme, catalyzing the conversion of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine to produce blue color.

Inhalation of 131I is the main route for internal doses to nuclear medicine workers. This study aimed to establish a simple analysis method for determining 131I activity in carbon cartridges, explore the activity concentration of 131I in nuclear medicine departments, and evaluate the internal dose of workers. A total of 21 nuclear medicine departments in the hospital conducted air sampling using a high-volume air sampler equipped with carbon cartridges and glass fiber filters to collect gaseous 131I and aerosol 131I, respectively.
