Introduction: There is a need to assess the value of the novel potentially useful biomarkers in ovarian tumors. The aim of study was to assess the value of sAgNOR analysis in ovarian serous epithelial tumors.
Material And Methods: The analysis was performed in ovaries from 113 patients treated operatively due to serous ovarian tumors (30 adenomas, 14 borderline tumors and 69 cancers). After silver staining of paraffin specimens from surgery, sAgNOR in tumor cells was analyzed. Additionally, the value of the argyrophilic nucleolar organizer region area/nucleus ratio (sAgNOR) in the prediction of disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) in 52 patients with serous ovarian cancer with complete follow-ups in November 2009 was evaluated. Age, grading, radicality of surgery and FIGO staging were analyzed as additional factors.
Results: SAGNOR IN ADENOMAS, BORDERLINE TUMORS AND CANCERS WAS IN THE FOLLOWING RANGES: (0.73 ±0.23) × 10(6), (0.81 ±0.18) × 10(6) and (0.96 ±0.33) × 10(6) [AgNOR/cm(2)] respectively. In cancers from G1 to G3 sAgNOR was (1.02 ±0.32) × 10(6) (G1), (0.98 ±0.37) × 10(6) (G2) and (0.82 ±0.24) × 10(6) (G3) [AgNOR/cm(2)] respectively. In univariate analysis, but not in multivariate analysis, staging negatively correlated with better DFS and OS. sAgNOR, age of patients, grading and radicality of surgery were not associated with DFS or OS in either univariate or multivariate analysis.
Conclusions: sAgNOR analysis is not sufficient to precisely characterize cellular kinetics in serous ovarian tumors, and the analysis of sAgNOR, mAgNOR and pAgNOR should be performed commonly. The prognostic significance of sAgNOR in patients with serous ovarian cancer was not proven.

Bone marrow metastasis (BMM) causes pancytopenia and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), resulting in rapid mortality. The incidence of this disease is likely underestimated, with confirmed BMM occurring at approximately twice the rates expected clinically. The present study describes two detailed cases and includes a literature review of BMM caused by ovarian cancer.

Background: Although evidence suggests that perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are positively correlated to several disease risks, no studies have proven if plasma PFASs are related to ovarian cancer survival.
Objective: To explore the association between plasma PFASs and high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) overall survival (OS) in the population who did not smoke.
Methods: We conducted a nested case-control study within the Ovarian Cancer Follow-Up Study, matching 159 dead patients and 159 survival ones based on body mass index, sample date, and age at diagnosis.

Background: Ovarian cancer is one of the top seven causes of cancer deaths. Incidence of ovarian cancer varies by ethnicity, where Asian women demonstrate lower incidence rates than non-Hispanic Blacks and Whites. Survival prediction models for ovarian cancer have been developed for Caucasians and Black populations using national databases; however, whether these models work for Asians is unclear.

Unlike high-grade serous carcinoma (HGSC), which mainly affects postmenopausal women, mucinous ovarian carcinoma (MOC) affects younger patients, with a median age at diagnosis of 53 years, and is rare among premenopausal women. After they receive anticancer treatment, these women encounter specific issues involving fertility preservation (FP) and/or pregnancy, which potentially require assisted reproductive technology (ART) as well as the prescription of hormonal contraception (HC) or hormone replacement therapy (HRT). We reviewed the available literature in PubMed/Medline concerning the risks of the development of ovarian cancer (OC), including MOC, associated with ART, HC and HRT, and literature on the impact of ovarian stimulation in the context of FP and/or ART, HC and HRT in women previously treated for OC, including MOC.

Objective: Several reproductive factors are associated with ovarian cancer risk but the association with survival is less clear. The main aim was to examine the impact of pre-diagnostic reproductive factors on long-term ovarian cancer survival (≥10 years).
Methods: We included all women with epithelial ovarian cancer in Denmark, 1990-2014.
