Gamma way: Regio- and enantioselective allylic substitution with a silicon nucleophile generated by copper(I)-catalyzed Si-B bond activation provides direct access to α-chiral allylic silanes from linear acceptors. The enantioconvergent catalysis employing McQuade's six-membered N-heterocyclic-carbene-copper(I) catalyst is applicable to aryl- and alkyl-substituted allylic phosphates (see scheme).

We have studied copper-catalyzed cross-coupling of chiral α-CF-substituted allylboronic acids with α-diazoketones. The reaction proceeds with excellent regioselectivity and stereoselectivity via allylic rearrangement. The method is useful for formation a new allylic C(sp)-C(sp) bond with high selectivity.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the leading causes of infection worldwide due to its antimicrobial resistance. Plant-derived essential oils (EOs) have undergone extensive observational and clinical research to explore their antimicrobial properties. The present study aimed to check mec A positive MRSA isolates using sequencing analysis, determination of chemical composition using gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS), antioxidant, and antimicrobial activity of Anethum graveolens and Piper betle EOs against the infectious agent MRSA.

The enantioselective ring-opening reactions of methylenecyclopropanes (MCPs) involving C-C bond activation via oxidative addition of transition metals have been rarely reported. Here, we disclose a Pd/Cu-catalyzed enantio- and regioselective coupling between cyclic imino esters and MCPs to produce α-allylated 2-pyrrole derivatives. In this reaction, azomethine ylide formed by a chiral copper catalyst with ketimine ester would serve as a nucleophile to react with activated MCPs via palladium catalysis.

The absolute and relative configurations of bioactive chiral molecules are typically relevant to their biological properties. It is thus highly important and desirable to construct all possible stereoisomers of a lead candidate or a given bioactive natural compound. Synergistic dual catalysis has been recognized as a reliable synthetic strategy for a variety of predictable stereodivergent transformations.

4-Phenol oxidases are proposed to be involved in the utilization of lignin-derived aromatic compounds. While enzymes with selectivity towards 4-hydroxyphenyl and guaiacyl motifs are well described, we identified the first syringyl-specific oxidase from Streptomyces cavernae (Sc4ASO) only very recently. Here, in-depth studies were conducted to unravel the molecular origins of the outstanding selectivity of Sc4ASO.
