Among the anomalies and curiosities of nature, a braid-like cervical protrusion is a rare anatomical finding. Most similar reported cases of tail-like appendages have been observed in the sacrococcygeal or lumbar region. Herein we describe a newborn with a high cervical malformation located along the vertebral column, and its histological features. To our knowledge, this congenital anomaly has never been reported in the English literature.

Background: A number of genetic aberrations are associated with the BCL6-correpresor gene (BCOR), including internal tandem duplications (ITDs) and gene fusions (BCOR::CCNB3 and BCOR::MAML3), as well as YWHAE::NUTM2, which are found in clear cell sarcoma of the kidney (CCSK), sarcoma with BCOR genetic alterations, primitive myxoid mesenchymal tumor of infancy, and high-grade neuroepithelial tumors in children. Detecting these gene aberrations is crucial for tumor diagnosis. ITDs can be identified by Sanger sequencing or agarose gel electrophoresis.

This study aimed to evaluate the temporal trends in hospital discharges associated with oral health-related conditions in Ecuador from 2000 to 2023 and identify the leading diagnoses groups.
Methods: An ecological time-series study was conducted based on annual data from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses of Ecuador.
