Background: Empathy is a complex behavior enabling individuals to recognize and sense the emotional situation of others. Empathy requires cognitive, emotional, and learning abilities to understand and react to the suffering of others. The current study evaluates the effect of Amyloid-Beta (Aβ), an aggregated peptide involved in Alzheimer's disease on empathy-like behavior.

It is common to make risky decisions under time pressure. However, there are ongoing debates regarding the interpretation of the intrinsic mechanisms through which time pressure influences risky decision-making. The current study, combining a sequential risk-taking task, behavioral modeling, and time-resolved multivariate pattern analysis on electroencephalography signals, explored the intrinsic mechanisms underlying the influence of time pressure on risky decision-making.

Subjective feelings are thought to arise from conceptual and bodily states. We examine whether the valence of feelings may also be decoded directly from objective ecological statistics of the visual environment. We train a visual valence (VV) machine learning model of low-level image statistics on nearly 8000 emotionally charged photographs.

Background: This study investigates acculturative stress and its impact on psychological distress among Mexican immigrant women in the United States, with a particular focus on contextual factors shaping these acculturative stress experiences. It also seeks to provide actionable insights to address Mexican immigrant women's mental health needs.
Methods: Using the data from a total of 257 Mexican immigrant women in the National Latino Asian American Survey (NLAAS), path analysis was conducted to examine the relationships between acculturative stress, psychological distress, and various contextual factors.

This skill has been proposed to engage dedicated systems subserving social knowledge.
