Atomically precise Ag nanoclusters display distinctive properties that are dictated by their structures and electronic states. However, manipulating the electronic states of Ag nanoclusters is challenging owing to their inherent instability and susceptibility to undesired structural changes, decomposition, and aggregation. Recently, we reported the synthesis of a body-centered cubic {Ag} nanocluster encapsulated within a ring-shaped polyoxometalate (POM) [PWO] by reacting 16 Ag-containing [PWO] with Ag using ,-dimethylformamide (DMF) as a mild reducing agent.

Escalating levels of carbon dioxide (CO) in the atmosphere have motivated interest in CO capture and concentration from dilute streams. A guanidino-functionalized aromatic 1,4-bis(tetramethylguanidino)benzene (1,4-btmgb) was evaluated both as a redox-active sorbent and as a pH swing mediator for electrochemical CO capture and concentration. Spectroscopic and crystallographic studies demonstrate that 1,4-btmgb reacts with CO in water to form 1,4-btmgbH(HCO ).

We report on three new 9-phenyl-substituted ferroceno[2,3]indenylmethylium dyes - with electron-donating (OMe, Me) or electron-withdrawing (CF) substituents. Complexes - exist as racemic mixtures of and enantiomers. Pyramidalization at the methyl C atom in the precursor carbinol species - or the corresponding one-electron reduced radicals induces a second stereocenter, as the 9-phenyl substituent may reside in an or an position.

Herein, using azo-amine (H2L) and azo-imine (L) ligands, singlet diradical Ni(II) complexes [1] and [2] were synthesized from Ni(0)(COD) in THF. In separate reactions, homoleptic Ni complexes, [3a]2+-[3c]2+, were synthesized from [Ni(HO)](ClO) and L, respectively. All these complexes were characterized thoroughly.

Oxidative stress is involved in the development of several pathologies. The different reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced during oxidative stress are at the origin of redox post-translational modifications (PTMs) on proteins and impact nucleic acids and lipids. This review provides an overview of recent data on cysteine and methionine oxidation and protein carbonylation following oxidative stress in a pathological context.
