Competition among ovalbumin and globin mRNA under their simultaneous translation in the tRNA-dependent cell-free system from wheat germ was studied. One of the mRNAs was added to samples in a constant amount, that provided 50% protein synthesis level of the maximum, other--in increasing amount (from 0 to the maximum). The ration of ovalbumin and globin synthesis rates has been shown to depend essentially (1.5-2 fold) on the nature of tRNA, being added to the system. The obtained data suggest that functional adaptation of tRNA is a part of the mechanism of protein biosynthesis regulation and it is possible to modulate some mRNAs translation selectivity on the elongation by different sets of tRNA.

A broadband collision-induced dissociation (bbCID) fragmentation mode was proposed for liquid chromatography-mass spectrometric targeted analysis of tryptic peptides obtained from proteins in samples of decoration paint coating. In this approach, a mass spectrometric dataset contains the information on the parent and all fragment ions. This maintains a balance between the quantity of simultaneously acquired data and the sensitivity of the method, which is beneficial under coupling with analytical chromatography.

Loading Effect of Chitosan Derivative Nanoparticles on Different Antigens and Their Immunomodulatory Activity on Dendritic Cells.

Mar Drugs

September 2021

CAS and Shandong Province Key Laboratory of Experimental Marine Biology, Center for Ocean Mega-Science, Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qingdao 266071, China.

Drug carrier nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by the polyelectrolyte method, with chitosan sulfate, with different substituents and quaternary ammonium chitosan, including C236-HACC NPs, C36-HACC NPs, and C6-HACC NPs. To evaluate whether the NPs are suitable for loading different antigens, we chose bovine serum albumin (BSA), ovalbumin (OVA), and myoglobin (Mb) as model antigens to investigate the encapsulation effect of the NPs. The characteristics (size, potential, and encapsulation efficiency) of the NPs were measured.

Fast construction of polymer monolithic columns inside fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) tubes for separation of proteins by reversed-phase liquid chromatography.

September 2020

Departamento de Química Fundamental, Instituto de Química, Universidade de São Paulo, Av. Prof. Lineu Prestes 748, 05508-000, São Paulo, SP, Brazil. Electronic address:

This paper describes the preparation of polymer monolithic columns in the confines of fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) tubes. These tubes are cheap, chemically stable, and widely used in flow analysis laboratories. UV-initiated grafting with 5 wt% benzophenone in methanol for 1 h activated the internal surface walls, thus enabling the further covalent binding of ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA) from a 15 wt% solution in methanol, also via photografting.

A novel magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) method based on 1-hexyl-3-methyl imidazolium chloride ionic liquid (IL) modified magnetic FeO nanoparticles, hydroxylated multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-OH) and zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) nanocomposites (FeO-MWCNTs-OH@ZIF-67@IL) were proposed and applied to extract α-chymotrypsin. The magnetic materials were synthesized successfully and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and zeta potentials. Subsequently, the UV-vis spectrophotometer at about 280 nm was utilized to quantitatively analyze the α-chymotrypsin concentration in the supernatant.

Injections of a crude fetal sheep liver extract (FSLE) containing fetal hemoglobin, MPLA, and glutathione (GSSH) reversed cytokine changes in aged mice. To investigate the role of fetal hemoglobin we derived mice with homzygous deletions for either of the two major βchains, HgbβKO or HgbβKO. Hgbβ is the most prominent fetal Hgbβ chain, with Hgbβ more prominent in adult mice.
