The Low Energy Particle Track Simulation code is a radiation interaction simulation tool specifically designed to describe electron and positron interactions below 10 keV at a molecular level. Relying on carefully selected, preferentially experimental input parameters that account for all expected scattering processes, it provides detailed results about all collisional events undergone by an incident radiation particle during its slowdown until thermalisation. Here, we give an up-to-date description of its input data sources and selection procedure and summarise the current contents of the resulting database.

Enhanced high-energy proton radiation hardness of ZnO thin-film transistors with a passivation layer.

Nano Converg

January 2025

Advanced Radiation Technology Institute, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, 29 Geumgu-gil, Jeongeup-si, Jeolabuk-do, 56212, Republic of Korea.

Metal-oxide thin-film semiconductors have been highlighted as next-generation space semiconductors owing to their excellent radiation hardness based on their dimensional advantages of very low thickness and insensitivity to crystal structure. However, thin-film transistors (TFTs) do not exhibit intrinsic radiation hardness owing to the chemical reactions at the interface exposed to ambient air. In this study, significantly enhanced radiation hardness of AlO-passivated ZnO TFTs against high-energy protons with energies of up to 100 MeV is obtained owing to the passivation layer blocking interactions with external reactants, thereby maintaining the chemical stability of the thin-film semiconductor.

School of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Sun Yat-Sen University, Shenzhen, Guangdong, 518107, People's Republic of China.

Low efficiency and high surface runoff of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) from agricultural field threaten crop yield severely. Layered double hydroxides (LDH) have shown promising adsorption properties for 2,4-D. However, the comparison of two environmentally friendly LDHs (i.

Biogas, consisting mainly of CO and CH, offers a sustainable source of energy. However, this gaseous stream has been undervalued in wastewater treatment plants owing to its high CO content. Biogas upgrading by capturing CO broadens its utilisation as a substitute for natural gas.

Resolving the Ambiguity of Thermal Reversion in a Nonconjugated Monocyclic Diene-Based Photoswitch for Rechargeable Solar Thermal Batteries.

J Phys Chem A

January 2025

Laboratory of Advanced Computation and Theory for Materials and Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, National Institute of Technology Warangal (NITW), Warangal, Telangana 506004, India.

We report nonconjugated monocyclic dienes (nCMDs) as unique photoswitchable molecules that hold promise for harvesting substantial solar energy and storing it for extended durations. Herein, cyclohepta-1,4-diene and its N-heterocyclic analogue have been considered as prototypical models for investigating photoswitching behavior in nCMDs. Initially, the nonradiative deactivation pathway of nCMD from the low-lying excited state to the [2 + 2]-cycloadduct has been evaluated.

Recent developments in artificial intelligence and the internet-of-things have created great demand for low-power microelectronic devices. Two-dimensional (2D) electrical switching materials are extensively used in neuromorphic computing technology, yet their high leakage current and low endurance impede their further application. This study presents a vertical crossbar-structured conductive-bridge threshold switching device based on 2D TaSe oxide.
