Purpose: This study aimed to compare buccal bone thickness in the maxillary anterior region provided by cone-beam computed tomography scans of cadaveric specimens using 2 different volumetric imaging software.

Methods: Cone-beam computed tomography scans of the maxilla of 15 cadaver heads were obtained from a database at the School of Dentistry, University of Michigan. Buccal bone thickness of the right and left maxillary canines and lateral and central incisors was measured at 2.0 mm below the crestal bone margin using 2 different volumetric software.

Results: A tooth-by-tooth comparison revealed strong correlation between measurements from the 2 software for the right canine (r = 0.859), lateral incisor (r = 0.817), and left lateral incisor (r = 0.933). When comparing tooth groups, there was a moderate correlation for central incisors (r = 0.635) and a strong correlation for canines (r = 0.820) and lateral incisors (r = 0.863). Measurements from both software were strongly correlated (r = 0.807) with 95.56% of the measurements in agreement.

Conclusions: Measurements from 2 different volumetric imaging software were in agreement and either software can be used in analyzing soft and hard tissue volumes.

Objectives: Maternal obesity increases a child's risk of neurodevelopmental impairment. However, little is known about the impact of maternal obesity on fetal brain development.

Methods: We prospectively recruited 20 healthy pregnant women across the range of pre-pregnancy or first-trimester body mass index (BMI) and performed fetal brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of their healthy singleton fetuses.

Background: Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms (SPNs) arising in the body or tail of the pancreas can be amenable to laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy with or without concomitant splenectomy. The purpose of this study was to evaluate laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy for SPN using the Warshaw technique as a means to preserve spleens in children.

Methods: We reviewed our database of SPN patients 19 years and younger (January 2006-December 2023).

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD), characterized by significant brain volume reduction, is influenced by genetic predispositions related to brain volumetric phenotypes. While genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have linked brain imaging-derived phenotypes (IDPs) with AD, existing polygenic risk scores (PRSs) based models inadequately capture this relationship. We develop BrainNetScore, a network-based model enhancing AD risk prediction by integrating genetic associations between multiple brain IDPs and AD incidence.

Background: Current evidence suggests that hippocampal subfields have partially different genetic architecture and may improve the sensitivity of the detection of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, we investigated whether genetic predisposition to AD contributes to the accelerated rate of hippocampal volume atrophy across sex and AD stages and how this contribution is specifically driven by functional variants located in the APOE gene.

Methods: The study comprised 1,051 participants from ADNI cohort (75.

Background: Early detection and accurate forecasting of AD progression are crucial for timely intervention and management. This study leverages multi-modal data, including MRI scans, brain volumetrics, and clinical notes, utilizing Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL) and a range of ensemble methods to enhance the forecasting accuracy of Alzheimer's disease.

Method: We utilize the OASIS-3 longitudinal dataset, tracking 1,098 patients over 30 years.
