Isolated laryngeal fractures quite rarely can occur following trauma to the neck region, but because of the variety and dynamic growth of symptoms or possible injury of the main structures on the neck may be life-threatening. The appropriate treatment of these patients is quick surgical intervention proceeded by imaging techniques. Here we report the cases of three patients treated in our Department between 2009 and 2012: two of them with penetrating injury and one with blunt trauma. The appropriate treatment of these patients requires that airway patency be the first priority and if possible quick reconstruction. These cases illustrate the individualized treatment and multidisciplinary approach in managing such cases.

Background: There is a growing evidence base to support the use of self-management interventions for improving quality of life after stroke. However, stroke survivors with aphasia have been underrepresented in research to date. It is therefore unclear if self-management is an appropriate or effective approach for this group.

Nivolumab has been linked to occurrences of uveitis, yet the clinical features associated with these episodes remain unclear. This study aimed to explore the clinical characteristics of uveitis induced by nivolumab and to offer guidance for its prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. We conducted a retrospective analysis by gathering case reports related to nivolumab-induced uveitis from both Chinese and English databases, covering the period from inception until September 30, 2024.

Model organisms are vital for biomedical research and drug testing but face high costs, complexity, and ethical issues. While newer techniques like organoids and assembloids have shown improvements, they still remain inadequate in addressing all research needs. In this study, we present a new method for maintaining the prostate gland of the earthworm, Eudrilus eugeniae ex vivo and examine its potential for regeneration and drug screening.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) interventions in interrupting transmission have paid heavy losses politically and economically. The Chinese government has replaced scaling up testing with monitoring focus groups and randomly supervising sampling, encouraging scientific research on the COVID-19 transmission curve to be confirmed by constructing epidemiological models, which include statistical models, computer simulations, mathematical illustrations of the pathogen and its effects, and several other methodologies. Although predicting and forecasting the propagation of COVID-19 are valuable, they nevertheless present an enormous challenge.

Acquired palpebral ptosis (also called blepharoptosis, or ptosis) is an abnormally low-positioned upper eyelid and occasionally presents as a chief complaint to the emergency department. Due to the wide range of causes and spectrum of severity, emergency physicians must recognize and initiate appropriate diagnostic and treatment pathways to limit the risk of long-term complications in those affected. We report a case of a 19 year old healthy man who presented with a chief complaint of unilateral eyelid droop in the setting of three days of sinusitis symptoms.
