Curcuminoids, known for their antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and wound healing properties, face challenges in medical applications due to their limited water solubility, resulting in poor bioavailability and clinical efficacy. This study introduces a novel approach to formulating 3D printing ink for personalized wound dressings by utilizing hydrophobic deep eutectic solvents (HDES) to incorporate poorly water-soluble compounds from (, curcuminoids and ar-turmerone) into hydrogels. The use of HDES, comprising either acetic acid or octanoic acid combined with menthol in a 2 : 1 molar ratio, significantly improved the solubility of curcuminoid derivatives and ar-turmerone by approximately 10 to 600 times, depending on the intrinsic chemical polarities of each compound, compared to conventional extraction solvents (, ethanol and water).

Subcutaneous (SC) injection is a common administration route for rapid and efficient delivery of biotherapeutics. However, syringe-based injections usually require professional assistance and are associated with pain and potential risks of infections, thus leading to undesired patient compliance and poor life quality. Herein, this work presents an ultrarapid-acting microneedle (URA-MN) patch for immediate transdermal delivery of therapeutics in a minimally invasive manner.

The objective of this study was to examine the dependence of the pressure level in the wound area on the height of the syringe needle from the wound, the gauge of the needle, and the flow rate using the Bernoulli equation. This study was the control-volume analysis using the Bernoulli equation. At a given height of the syringe needle from the wound, the gauge of the syringe needle was fixed, and the pressure in the wound area, which depended on the flow rate of the irrigation solution discharged from the tip of the needle, was calculated according to the Bernoulli equation and the definition of the flow rate.

Native collagen doughs were processed using a syringe-based extrusion 3D printer to obtain collagen scaffolds. Before processing, the rheological properties of the doughs were analyzed to determine the optimal 3D printing conditions. Samples showed a high shear-thinning behavior, reported beneficial in the 3D printing process.

Objective: Compare the pressures measured by improvised irrigation techniques to a commercial device and to prior reports.

Methods: Devices tested included a commercial 500-mL compressible plastic bottle with splash guard, a 10-mL syringe, a 10-mL syringe with a 14-ga angiocatheter (with needle removed), a 50-mL Sawyer syringe, a plastic bag punctured with a 14-ga needle, a plastic bottle with cap punctured by a 14-ga needle, a plastic bottle with sports top, and a bladder-style hydration system. Each device was leveled on a support, manually compressed, and aimed toward a piece of glass.
