The aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is a benign cystic and expanding osteolytic lesion consisting of bone-filled spaces of variable size, separated by connective tissue containing trabeculae of bone or osteoid tissue and osteoclast giant cells. Radiographic findings may vary from unicystic or moth-eaten radiolucencies to extensive multilocular lesions with bilateral expansion and destruction of mandibular cortices. Treatment modalities include curettage (with reported recurrences) and resection with immediate reconstruction. The main arterial and feeder vessels may be embolized to prevent profuse intraoperative blood loss and achieve a bloodless surgical field. Failed embolization may necessitate ligation of the external carotid artery of the affected side.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the long-term efficacy of the ligation of the intersphincteric fistula tract (LIFT) procedure in treating high transsphincteric fistulas.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study to evaluate the success rate of LIFT treatment in 82 patients with high transsphincteric fistulas involving at least 1/3 of the external sphincter. This study was carried out across 2 centers from November 2009 to February 2023.

Background: Cardioimmunology is an emerging branch of medicine whose development has been facilitated by more sophisticated diagnostic procedures. Recent studies have mainly focused on the immune response during myocardial infarction (MI), and there is evidence that both resident and external immune cells participate in acute inflammatory disease, as well as tissue remodeling. Cardiac Innate Immune Cells: Following MI, macrophages, dendritic cells (DCs) and mast cells (MCs) are the main players in the heart.

Vinculin (VCL) is a key adapter protein located in force-bearing costamere complexes, which mechanically couples the sarcomere to the ECM. Heterozygous vinculin frameshift genetic variants can contribute to cardiomyopathy when external stress is applied, but the mechanosensitive pathways underpinning VCL haploinsufficiency remain elusive. Here, we show that in response to extracellular matrix stiffening, heterozygous loss of VCL disrupts force-mediated costamere protein recruitment, thereby impairing cardiomyocyte contractility and sarcomere organization.

Purpose: Pressure resistance characteristics of the Paul glaucoma implant (PGI) and Ahmed ClearPath 250 (ACP), with and without the insertion of polypropylene thread in their tubes, were evaluated.
Methods: The in vitro flow pressure was evaluated at varying flow rates, both with and without threads (6-0 for PGI and 4-0 or 3-0 for ACP). Cross-sectional areas of the tube lumen and thread were measured to calculate pressure resistance using the Hagen-Poiseuille equation.

Introduction: The cyst of the canal of Nuck is a rare cause of inguino-labial swelling in adult women, arising from an obliteration failure of the processus vaginalis during embryological development. Its rarity often leads to misdiagnosis and improper treatment. This article highlights its diagnosis and surgical management.
