Alkynylallenes offer the varied reactivity patterns of two different multiple bond linkages either separately or in concert. Initially, a short overview of their syntheses, structures, rearrangement mechanisms and synthetic utility, especially when treated with transition metal reagents such as gold(I), silver(I), platinum metals or metal carbonyls, is presented. Subsequently, we focus on the particular case of 1,2-dien-5-ynes (propargylallenes), whereby the shortness of the single atom bridge, and the consequent proximity of the allenyl and alkynyl moieties, facilitates metal-mediated interactions between them.

Intrathoracic ectopic kidney is an extremely rare congenital defect that is frequently identified by accident because it is asymptomatic. Even more unusual is its link to pulmonary sequestration alone. This case report describes the clinical presentation of a 7-month-old child with a history of recurrent respiratory distress and chest infections since birth, who had shortness of breath, failure to thrive, and delayed developmental milestones.

Objective: Ovarian carcinomas are considered one of the deadliest malignancies, accounting for a significant number of cancer-related deaths than any other gynecological malignancy. Advanced stage at diagnosis can be attributed to vague presenting symptoms, rarely bizarre, which usually point towards any disease but ovarian tumour. Here, we discuss a similar case, with presentations that compel us to think in favor of disseminated Koch's, but turns out to be germ cell tumor (GCT) of the ovary; thereby pointing at the wide spectrum of bizarre signs and symptoms which should have ovarian malignancies as a differential during workup.

A man in his 50s with diabetes, hypertension and history of multiple percutaneous coronary interventions presented with 3 weeks of fever and worsening shortness of breath. There was clinical suspicion of infective endocarditis with raised infective parameters. Transthoracic echocardiogram showed abnormally thickened, bicuspid aortic valve with suspicion of paravalvular aortic root abscess.

Background: Heart failure is a rare manifestation of metastatic disease of the carcinoma of an unknown primary, malignancy that requires extensive work-up to identify the primary site. Initial consideration of rare etiologies in patients presented with a common clinical syndrome is challenging.
Case Presentation: A 35-year-old Black woman presented with shortness of breath at rest, orthopnea, paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea, chest pain, a blood-tinged productive cough, and fever for 2 weeks.
