Objective: To determine the association between gender and skeletal defects in fetuses with NTDs.

Methods: 150 NTD fetuses have been examined in three years' course (01.2006-01.2009) in the Clinic of Fetopathology at the Center for Maternity and Neonatology, Tunis.

Results: The most common gender associated anomalies for males are cleft palate, anomalies in the form and attachment of the outer ear and the agenesis of corpus callosum. For women, they are distortions of the spine and "frog" face.

Conclusion: The proven associations in the study are important indicators in the purposeful search for NTDs in early prenatal ultrasound diagnosis.

Genomic Patterns are Associated with Different Sequelae of Patients with Long-Term COVID-19.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

State Key Laboratory for Diagnosis and Treatment of Severe Zoonotic Infectious Diseases, Key Laboratory of Pathobiology Ministry of Education, China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University, Changchun, 130033, China.

In the post-large era, various COVID-19 sequelae are getting more and more attention to health problems. Although the mortality rate of the COVID-19 infection is now declining, it is often accompanied by new clinical sequelae with different symptoms such as fatigue after infection, loss of smell. The degree of age, gender, virus infection seems to be weakly correlated with clinical symptoms.

The effects of PM components on the cardiovascular disease admissions in Shanghai City, China: a multi- region study.

BMC Public Health

December 2024

Department of Hospital Infection Control, Tongji Hospital, School of Medicine, Tongji University, Shanghai, 200065, China.

Background: The burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is severe worldwide. Although many studies have investigated the association of particulate pollution with CVD, the effect of finer particulate pollution components on CVD remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the effect of five PM components ([Formula: see text], sulfate; [Formula: see text], nitrate; [Formula: see text], ammonium; OM, organic matter; BC, carbon black) on CVD admission in Shanghai City, identify the susceptible population, and provide clues for the prevention and control of particulate pollution.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic was a significant health risk and resulted in increased sickness absence during the pandemic. This study examines whether a history of COVID-19 infection is associated with a higher risk of subsequent sickness absence.

Methods: In this prospective cohort study, 32,124 public sector employees responded to a survey on COVID-19 infection and lifestyle factors in 2020 and were linked to sickness absence records before (2019) and after (2021-2022) the survey.

Background: The Planetary Health Diet, proposed by the EAT-Lancet Commission, seeks to promote a sustainable and healthy diet for both humans and the environment. However, few studies have investigated relationships between the Planetary Health Diet and the genetic pathway of obesity. The aim of this study was to assess whether adherence to a Planetary Health Diet Index (PHDI) mediated or moderated the genetic susceptibility to obesity.
