Boron complexes (dpp-bian)BCl2 (1) and (dpp-bian)BX (X = Cl, 2; Br, 3) (dpp-bian = 1,2-bis[(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imino]acenaphthene) have been prepared by reacting mixtures dpp-bian-BX3 (1 : 1) with one (1) and two (2 and 3) equivalents of sodium correspondingly in toluene. Complexes 2 and 3 reveal a moderate stability against ambient oxygen and moisture. The reaction of complex 2 with PhC≡CLi gave compound (dpp-bian)B-C≡CPh (4). Treatment of 2 with potassium hydroxide afforded complexes (dpp-bian)B-OH (5) and (dpp-bian)B-OK (6). Boron amide (dpp-bian)B-NH2 (7) has been isolated from the reaction of compound 1 with sodium in liquid ammonia. Borane (dpp-bian)B-H (8) can be prepared by the reactions of complexes 2 and 3 with LiAlH4. Diamagnetic compounds 2-8 have been characterized by IR, (1)H and (11)B NMR spectroscopy; paramagnetic complex 1 has been studied by the ESR method. Molecular structures of 2, 5, 7 and 8 have been determined by X-ray crystallography.

A series of N-Het·BH and AAE·BH complexes were prepared in moderate to high yields and the single-crystal structures of products 3, 31, 34, and 59 were determined. The N-Het·BH and AAE·BH complexes possess high stability, endowing these products with potential applications in luminescent and boron-containing drugs. The optical properties of the representative products have been preliminarily studied.

The potential applicability of the C nanocage and its boron nitride-doped analogs (CBN and CBN) as pyrazinamide (PA) carriers was investigated using density functional theory. Geometry optimization and energy calculations were performed using the B3LYP functional and 6-31G(d) basis set. Besides, dispersion-corrected interaction energies were calculated at CAM (Coulomb attenuated method)-B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) and M06-2X/6-31G(d,p) levels of theory.

Synergistic Boronic Acid and Photoredox Catalysis: Synthesis of C-Branched Saccharides via Selective Alkylation of Unprotected Saccharides.

Org Lett

Here we present a regio- and stereoselective alkylation approach for unprotected saccharides using synergistic boronic acid and photoredox catalysis. Targeting the equatorial C-H bond of the -1,2-diol motif, this method employs MeB(OH) as a catalyst. Mechanistic investigations indicate that the formation of a tetracoordinate boron species, resulting from the interaction between the cyclic boronic diol ester and a free hydroxyl group in the saccharide, is critical to this transformation.

Objective: Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) is a novel precision radiotherapy. The key to BNCT application lies in the effective targeting and retention of the boron-10 (B) carrier. Among the various compounds studied in clinical settings, 4-boronophenylalanine (BPA) become the most prevalent one currently.

Deciphering the Complexity of Step Profiles on Vicinal Si(001) Surfaces Through Multiscale Simulations.

Small

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Materials for Integrated Circuits, Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai, 200050, China.

The behavior of vicinal Si(001) surfaces are a subject of intense research for years, yet the mechanism behind its step modulation remains unresolved. Step B, in particular, can meander randomly or form a periodic zigzag profile, a surface phenomenon that has eluded explanation due to the lack of appropriate simulation tools. Here, a multiscale simulation strategy, enhanced by machine learning potentials are proposed, to investigate this mesoscale behavior.
