Four new sinapyl alcohol derivatives dichrocephols A-D (compounds 1-4) were isolated from the lipo-soluble part of the whole herb of Dichrocephala benthamii C. B. Clarke, together with the known compound syringenin isovalerate (5). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis. Their absolute configurations were established by the method of alkaline hydrohysis. Compounds 1-3 showed moderate cytotoxity against HeLa cells, with IC₅₀ values of 14.8 μM, 51.6 μM and 81.6 μM, respectively. This is the first time that sinapyl alcohol derivatives were isolated from the genus Dichrocephala.

To investigate the effects of different light qualities on the growth, photosynthesis, transcriptome, and metabolome of mint, three treatments were designed: (1) 7R3B (70% red light and 30% blue light, CK); (2) 7R3B+ far-red light (FR); (3) 7R3B+ ultraviolet light A (UVA). The results showed that supplemental FR significantly promoted the growth and photosynthesis of mint, as evidenced by the increase in plant height, plant width, biomass, effective quantum yield of PSII photochemistry (F'/F'), maximal quantum yield of PSII (F/F), and performance index (PI). UVA and CK exhibited minimal differences.

Syringaresinol, a phytochemical constituent belonging to lignan, is formed from two sinapyl alcohol units linked via a β-β linkage, which can be found in a wide variety of cereals and medicinal plants. Medical researches revealed that Syringaresinol possesses a broad spectrum of biological activities, including anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidation, anticancer, antibacterial, antiviral, neuroprotection, and vasodilation effects. These pharmacological properties lay the foundation for its use in treating various diseases such as inflammatory diseases, neurodegenerative disorders, diabetes and its complication, skin disorders, cancer, cardiovascular, and cerebrovascular diseases.

Intercropping is emerging as a sustainable strategy to manage soil-borne diseases, yet the underlying mechanisms remain largely elusive. Here, we investigated how intercropping chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum morifolium) with ginger (Zingiber officinale) suppressed Fusarium wilt and influenced the associated rhizo-microbiome. Chrysanthemum plants in intercropping systems exhibited a marked reduction in wilt severity and greater biomass compared to those grown in monoculture.

Volatile phenylpropenes comprise one of the largest groups of plant phenylalanine-derived volatiles that not only possess ecological roles but also exhibit numerous pharmacological activities. Despite their wide distribution in the plant kingdom, biosynthesis of only a small subset of these compounds has been discovered. Here, we elucidated yet unknown steps in the biosynthesis of isoelemicin and elemicin using carrot (Daucus carota subsp.

It is now well documented that plants produce methane (CH) under aerobic conditions. However, the mechanisms of methane production in plants, its potential precursors, and the factors that are involved in the process are not fully understood. Few studies have considered the effects of blue light on methane emissions from plants; however, the combined effects of temperature and blue light have not been studied.
