A new method based on the use of highly fluorescent water-soluble cadmium telluride (CdTe) quantum dots (QDs) capped with mercaptosuccinic acid (MSA) was explored to develop latent fingerprints. After optimized the effectiveness of QDs method contains pH value and developing time, super fast detection was achieved. Excellent fingerprint images were obtained in 1-3s after immersed the latent fingerprints into quantum dots solution on various non-porous surfaces, i.e. adhesive tape, transparent tape, aluminum foil and stainless steel. High sensitivity of the new latent fingerprints develop method was obtained by developing the fingerprints pressed on aluminum foil successively with the same finger. Compared with methyl violet and rhodamine 6G, the MSA-CdTe QDs showed the higher develop speed and fingerprint image quality. Clear image can be maintained for months by extending exposure time of CCD camera, storing fingerprints in a low temperature condition and secondary development.

Latent fingerprints (LFPs) are invisible impressions that need to be developed before being used for criminal investigation; however, existing fingerprint visualization techniques face challenges, such as complex preparation and poor contrast. To advance practical fingerprint detection, green-emissive micron-sized curcumin/kaolin composites were synthesized a facile and cost-effective one-step physical cross-linking method, which exhibited unprecedented performance in developing diversified marks, including LFPs, knuckle prints, palm prints, and footprints, with clear three-level details on various substrates. Notably, the powders successfully developed LFPs that were aged for 30 days and even up to 100 days, meeting the stringent requirements for comprehensive forensic application.

We designed a new cyanide sensing probe by one-step synthesis and evaluated it using UV-vis and fluorescent techniques. The active moiety of (Z)-3-(4-(methylthio) phenyl)-2-(4-nitrophenyl) acrylonitrile (NCS) demonstrated fluorescence. The probe NCS showed turn-off fluorescence in the presence of cyanide (CN¯), which has a higher selectivity and sensitivity than other anions.

Exploiting solid powder fluorescence holds significant potential in diverse domains including medicine and forensics. Conventional fingerprint detection methods often fall short due to low contrast, sensitivity, and high toxicity. To addressing these challenges, we present a novel method for latent fingerprint detection using fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) encapsulated into conventional or mesoporous SiO colloidal spheres (CD@SiO or CDs@m-SiO) through a surface functionalization-assisted cooperative assembly process.

A single Raman spectrum reflects limited molecular information. Effective fusion of the Raman spectra of serum and urine source domains helps to obtain richer feature information. However, most of the current studies on immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) based on Raman spectroscopy are based on small sample data and low signal-to-noise ratio.

A group of bithiophenyl compounds comprising the cyanoacrylate moiety were designed and successfully synthesized. The optical, (spectro)electrochemical, and aggregation-induced emission properties were studied. DFT calculations were used to explain the reaction's regioselectivity and to determine the molecules' energy parameters (i.
