Article Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to assess the association between emergency-room visits for respiratory tract infection (RTI) with diurnal temperature range (DTR), a weather parameter closely associated with urbanization and global climate change.
Methods: We conducted a semiparametric time-series analysis to estimate the percentage increase in emergency-room visits for RTI associated with changes in DTR after adjustment for daily weather conditions (temperature and relative humidity) and outdoor air pollution.
Results: DTR was significantly associated with daily emergency-room visits for RTI. An increase of 1 °C in the current-day (L0) and in the 2-day moving average (L01) DTR corresponded to a 0.94% [95% confidence interval (CI), 0.34%-1.55%] and 2.08% (95% CI, 1.24%-2.93%) increase in emergency-room visits for RTI, respectively.
Conclusion: DTR was associated with increased risk of RTI. More studies are needed to understand the impact of DTR on respiratory health.

Introduction: Adults with congenital heart disease (CHD) represent a heterogeneous and growing population with high healthcare utilization. We sought to understand the association between insurance type, healthcare use, and outcomes among adults with CHD in Oregon.
Methods: The Oregon All Payers All Claims database from 2010 to 2017 was queried for adults aged 18-65 in 2014 with ICD-9 or 10 codes consistent with CHD; patient demographics, comorbidities, healthcare use, and disease severity were identified.

Background: Transition to adulthood is a vulnerable time for emerging adults (16-25 years of age) with sickle cell disease (SCD), as there is a seven-fold increase in mortality rates during the transition period. Emerging adults with SCD also have the highest rates of hospitalizations, emergency room visits, and hospital readmissions compared to other age groups. This study examined treatment utilization across in-person and virtual treatment modalities in veterans who were on medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD; N = 139). Treatment records for veterans in addiction treatment on MOUD were examined for 3-months prior to telehealth conversions ("Pre-Telehealth," 12/02/2019-03/14/2020), 3-months during the initial telehealth transition ("Telehealth," 03/15/2020-06/30/2020) and 3-months during post-telehealth transition ("Re-Entry," 07/01/2020-10/01/2020). Analyses examined the relationship between treatment modality and demographic features, psychiatric comorbidities, treatment engagement, and illness severity as measured by psychiatric emergency room (PER) utilization.

Background: Hospital presumptive eligibility (HPE) emergency Medicaid programs offset patient bills at hospitalization and can provide long-term Medicaid coverage. We characterized postdischarge outpatient health care utilization among HPE Medicaid trauma patients and identified patient access facilitators and barriers once newly insured. We hypothesized utilization would be increased among HPE trauma patients compared with other HPE patients, but that challenges in access to care would remain.
