Background: Acute lung injury (ALI) is a common syndrome associated with high morbidity and mortality in emergency medicine. Cell apoptosis plays a key role in the pathogenesis of ALI. Hydrogen sulfide (H(2)S) plays a protective role during acute lung injury. We designed this study to examine the role of H(2)S in the lung alveolar epithelial cell apoptosis in rats with ALI.
Methods: Sixty-nine male Sprague Dawley rats were used. ALI was induced by intra-tail vein injection of oleic acid (OA). NaHS solution was injected intraperitonally 30 minutes before OA injection as the NaHS pretreatment group. Single sodium hydrosulfide pretreatment group and control group were designed. Index of quantitative assessment (IQA), wet/dry weight (W/D) ratio and the percentage of polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMN) cells in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were determined. H(2)S level in lung tissue was measured by a sensitive sulphur electrode. Apoptosis was evaluated by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) staining and Fas protein was measured by immunohistochemical staining.
Results: The level of endogenous H(2)S in lung tissue decreased with the development of ALI induced by OA injection. Apoptosis and Fas protein in alveolar epithelial cells increased in the ALI of rats but NaHS lessened apoptosis and Fas protein expression in alveolar epithelial cells of rats with ALI.
Conclusion: Endogenous H(2)S protects rats from oleic acid-induced ALI, probably by inhibiting cell apoptosis.

The title compound, CHNO, was synthesized by S2 reaction of bromo-methyl coumarin with 4,4-di-methyl-piperidine-2,6-dione. The mol-ecule crystalizes in the monoclinic system with space group 2/. The coumarin unit is almost planar with a dihedral angle between the aromatic rings of 0.

Introduction: The lung environment is defined by unique biological boundary conditions, including complex alveolar geometry, extracellular matrix composition and mechanical forces generated during respiration. These factors were shown to regulate alveolar permeability, surfactant secretion, cell contractility and apoptosis, but their role in fungal infections remains unknown. is a critical fungal pathogen that causes severe pulmonary infections in immunocompromised individuals.

Yet, our understanding of the precise cellular and molecular changes underlying lung alveolar damage is limited. Here, we integrate single cell transcriptomic data of COVID-19 and donor lung tissue with spatial transcriptomic data stratifying histopathological stages of diffuse alveolar damage.

Objective: There is evidence showing both necroptosis and activation of renin-angiotensin system (RAS) are involved in the pathogenesis of hyperbaric hyperoxic lung injury (HLI). This study aimed to investigate whether RAS activation can induce lung cell necroptosis and the cell specificity of necroptosis in the lung in case of hyperbaric HLI.
Methods: Male SD rats were randomly assigned into control group ( = 12), HLI group ( = 18), captopril group ( = 18), and valsartan group ( = 18).

Monkeypox virus (Mpox) has been recognized for causing distinct skin lesions and is primarily transmitted through skin and sexual contact. To date, the transmissibility and pathogenesis of the Mpox virus in distal human lung has never been completely explored. Here the transmission pathways and Mpox tropism on patient-derived air-liquid epithelium (ALE) model fabricated using isolated primary human alveolar epithelial cells (hAECs) were investigated.
