It is crucial yet challenging to sensitively quantify low-abundance biomarkers in blood for early screening and diagnosis of various diseases. Herein, an analytical model of intra-mesopore immunoassay (IMIA) was proposed, which was competent to examine various biomarkers at the femtomolar level. The success is rooted in the design of an innovative superparamagnetic core-shell structure with FeO nanoparticles (NPs) at the core and hierarchically porous zeolitic imidazolate frameworks as a shell (FeO@HPZIF-8), achieved through a soft-template directed self-assembly coupled with confinement growth mechanism.

This case involves a 21-year-old male healthcare student with a medical history of HIV-1 infection for two years and anxiety disorder. He presented to the emergency department with hemoptysis and dyspnea of sudden onset. A thoracic CT scan revealed multiple bilateral nodular ground-glass opacities suggestive of diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH).

We aimed to test whether angiotensin II infusion during intermittent hemodialysis is safe, feasible, and effective in the attenuation of muscle cramps.
Methods: We performed a pilot, single-blinded, randomized crossover trial of patients receiving intermittent hemodialysis who frequently experience intradialytic muscle cramps.

Background: High levels of catecholamines are cardiotoxic and associated with stress-induced cardiomyopathies. Septic patients are routinely exposed to endogenously released and exogenously administered catecholamines, which may alter cardiac function and perfusion causing ischemia. Early during human septic shock, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) decreases but normalizes in survivors over 7-10 days.
