Published: April 2013

A thin film of sodium manganese ferrocyanide, Na1.32Mn[Fe(CN)6]0.83·3.5H2O, exhibits discharge capacity (= 109 mA h g(-1)) and discharge voltage (3.4 V in average) at 0.5 C against Na in aprotic solvent. The ex situ XRD experiments reveal that the host framework remains cubic without showing any structural phase transition during the charge process. The discharge property is discernible up to 40 C.

The mechanisms that regulate minor and trace element biomineralization in the echinoid skeleton can be primarily controlled biologically (, by the organism and its vital effects) or by extrinsic environmental factors. Assessing the relative role of those controls is essential for understanding echinoid biomineralization, taphonomy, diagenesis, and their potential as geochemical archives. In this study, we (1) contrast geochemical signatures of specimens collected across multiple taxa and environmental settings to assess the effects of environmental and physiological factors on skeletal biomineralogy; and (2) analyze the nanomechanical properties of the echinoid skeleton to assess potential linkages between magnesium/calcium (Mg/Ca) ratios and skeletal nanohardness.

A Mn(III)-mediated radical cascade cyclization of -propargyl enamides with sodium sulfinates was developed. Mechanistic studies indicated that this cascade process is mainly composed of the chemoselective addition of sulfonyl radical to C≡C bond and the regioselective intramolecular 6--trig cyclization. This protocol provided a powerful method for the divergent synthesis of diverse polysubstituted -sulfonylpyridines or 1,2-dihydropyridines just by varying solvent and temperature featuring good functional group compatibility and simple operation.

Since the widespread use of antibiotics, the residues of antibiotics have frequently been detected in various water sources, making antibiotic pollution an urgent environmental issue. In this paper, one-step green synthetic reduced graphene/manganese nanoparticles (rGO/Mn NPs) composites have been utilized as a novel environmentally-friendly catalyst for tetracycline (TC) removal. The results demonstrated that rGO/Mn NPs exhibit excellent adsorption performance for TC, and can efficiently activate sodium persulfate (PDS) to oxidize and degrade TC.

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have the advantages of abundant resources and low cost, making them potential candidates for the next-generation large-scale energy storage technology. However, the capacity fade during cycling used in sodium-ion batteries is a major challenge. The rational design of the electrolyte is one of the ways to solve these problems.
