The objective of this study was to get to know the social representations on aging developed by primary care health workers. This is an exploratory study involving 204 primary health care workers, in the city of João Pessoa, in the state of Paraíba. For data collection we used a semi-structured interview. The data obtained from 204 interviews was analyzed with the help of the Alceste software version 2010. The results indicated five classes or categories: vision of aging, psychosocial dimensions, a time of doubts, aging as a process, and aging versus disease, with positive content: joy, care, children, retirement, caregiver rights, maturity and wisdom, as well as negative factors: impairments, decadence, neglect, fragility, limitation, wrinkles, dependency and disease. It was observed that these meanings associated with aging express the need for total and humanized elderly care.

Hippocampal representations of space and time seem to share a common coding scheme characterized by neurons with bell-shaped tuning curves called place and time cells. The properties of the tuning curves are consistent with Weber's law, such that, in the absence of visual inputs, width scales with the peak time for time cells and with distance for place cells. Building on earlier computational work, we examined how neurons with such properties can emerge through self-supervised learning.

Healthy brain aging involves changes in both brain structure and function, including alterations in cellular composition and microstructure across brain regions. Unlike diffusion-weighted MRI (dMRI), diffusion-weighted MR spectroscopy (dMRS) can assess cell-type specific microstructural changes, providing indirect information on both cell composition and microstructure through the quantification and interpretation of metabolites' diffusion properties. This work investigates age-related changes in the higher-order diffusion properties of total N-Acetyl-aspartate (neuronal biomarker), total choline (glial biomarker), and total creatine (both neuronal and glial biomarker) beyond the classical apparent diffusion coefficient in cerebral and cerebellar gray matter of healthy human brain.

Urban stormwater management is crucial for mitigating the impacts of flooding in urban areas, as it plays a vital role in protecting infrastructures, ensuring public safety, and preserving environmental quality. In this study, we develop a new method to quantify urban flood risk (UFR) by integrating the components of hazard magnitude and vulnerability. The hazard is assessed using a coupled SWMM-HEC-RAS 2D model, where the flooding rate calculated by SWMM at each node is automatically fed into HEC-RAS-2D.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is considered one of the most deadly cancer types nowadays. It is rapidly increasing due to many factors, such as unhealthy lifestyles, water and food pollution, aging, and medical diagnosis development. Detecting CRC in its early stages can help stop its growth by providing the necessary treatments, thereby saving many people's lives.

Background: GLOB-cAGE is a newly established unprecedented consortium that brings together cohorts of older persons with cardiovascular disease worldwide. GLOB-cAGE aims to harmonize non-identifiable data from longitudinal cohorts examining cardiovascular health and cardiovascular disease diagnosis and management in older individuals to perform meta-regression analyses using combined repositories of standardized subject-level data points.
Methods And Design: Studies registered into GLOB-cAGE are population-based longitudinal cohort studies or clinical trials, either ongoing or completed, that involve assessing cardiovascular health as a central objective.
