Background: An increasing number of patients with hepatolithiasis were diagnosed at an early stage in China. Laparoscopic surgery has introduced new methods of treating this condition.

Aim: To investigate the patient selection, operative technique, and efficacy of laparoscopic hepatectomy with bile duct exploration for the treatment of hepatolithiasis.

Patients And Methods: The clinical data of 116 patients who underwent laparoscopic hepatectomy (laparoscopic group) and 78 patients who underwent open hepatectomy (open group) for hepatolithiasis were retrospectively analyzed, and were compared with the recent reports.

Results: The laparoscopic group had a longer duration of operation (323.3 ± 103.0 min vs. 272.8 ± 66.8 min, p<0.05) and shorter postoperative hospital stay (13.1 ± 5.6 days vs. 16.5 ± 8.4 days, p<0.05) than the open group. There were no significant differences between the two groups in intraoperative blood loss or transfusion rate, postoperative complications, calculus clearance, calculus recurrence, or recurrent cholangitis (p>0.05 for all). Efficacy in the laparoscopic group was similar to that in other recently reported studies.

Conclusions: Laparoscopic hepatectomy with bile duct exploration is safe and feasible for early stage localized hepatolithiasis, with an efficacy similar to that of open surgery. Anatomic hepatectomy is important for achieving good therapeutic outcomes.

Background: Liver malignancies present substantial challenges to surgeons due to the extensive hepatic resections required, frequently resulting in posthepatectomy liver failure. Associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS) was designed to increase the resectable liver volume, yet it is associated with significant mortality and morbidity rates. Recently, minimally invasive techniques have been incorporated into ALPPS, with the potential to improve the procedure's safety profile whilst maintaining efficacy.

Objective: To analyze the efficacy of indocyanine green fluorescence (ICG-F)-assisted laparoscopic hepatectomy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: This retrospective study included 120 patients with HCC who underwent laparoscopic hepatectomy in The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from February 2020 to November 2022. Among them, 58 patients underwent conventional laparoscopic surgery (laparoscopic group), and 62 patients underwent ICG-F assisted laparoscopic surgery (ICG-F group).

: Resection of the caudate lobe of the liver is considered a highly challenging surgical procedure due to the deep anatomic location of this segment and the relationships with major vessels. There is no clear evidence about the safety and effectiveness of robotic resection of the caudate lobe. The aim of this systematic review was to report data about the safety, technical feasibility, and postoperative outcomes of robotic caudate lobectomy.

: The aim of this study was to comprehensively analyze the evolution in textbook outcome (TO) achievement after liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) over two decades at a single tertiary referral center. : All consecutive liver resections for HCC at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital from 2003 to 2022 were analyzed. The included 1334 patients were divided into four groups by time intervals identified through change point analysis.

Background: Both laparoscopic hepatectomy (LH) and robotic hepatectomy (RH) have been performed for tumors in nearly all liver segments. However, few studies have compared the outcomes of patients who underwent open hepatectomy (OH), LH and RH for the treatment of Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage 0-A HCC in S7/8.

Methods: The clinical data of patients who underwent S7/8 resection for the treatment of BCLC stage 0-A HCC in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from July 2017 to July 2023 were retrospectively collected.
