While alpine skiing, a professional skater fell. He was examined at the nearest hospital and diagnosis was distal crural fracture with multifragmentary tibial metaphysis. The patient left the hospital with only temporary immobilization after the suggested treatment for his injury was crural amputation. Thirteen hours after injury he arrived at his home hospital. He was immediately operated on to perform osteosynthesis on his left lower leg. The healing of the damaged soft tissue as well as the bones was excellent even though Sudeck's syndrome appeared. Six month after injury he returned to skating and 1 year after injury he had completely returned to his everyday athletic routine without any complications.

Enantiornithes are the most successful early-diverging avian clade, their fossils revealing important information regarding the structure of Cretaceous avifaunas and the parallel refinement of flight alongside the ornithuromorph lineage that includes modern birds. The most diverse recognized family of Early Cretaceous enantiornithines is the Bohaiornithidae, known from the Jehol Biota in northeastern China. Members of this clade enhance our understanding of intraclade morphological diversity and elucidate the independent evolution of this unique lineage.

This is an annual report indicating the number and early clinical results of annual vascular treatment performed by vascular surgeons in Japan in 2017, as analyzed by Database Management Committee (DBC) members of the Japanese Society for Vascular Surgery (JSVS). To survey the current status of vascular treatments performed by vascular surgeons in Japan, the DBC members of the JSVS analyzed the vascular treatment data provided by the National Clinical Database, including the number of treatments and early results such as operative and hospital mortality. In total, 137,909 vascular treatments were registered by 1,076 institutions in 2017.

: Chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) is a severe condition with high risks of amputation and mortality, especially in patients with distal crural or pedal artery disease. Despite advances in endovascular techniques, bypass surgery remains crucial for patients with CLTI. This study aimed to investigate amputation-free survival, Wound, Ischemia, and foot Infection (WIfI) staging, and Global Limb Anatomic Staging System (GLASS) classifications in patients undergoing distal crural or pedal bypass for CLTI.

Objective: Medial patellar luxation (MPL) is prevalent in small dogs; however, the causes vary, and few studies have reported tibial deformities. We aimed to conduct a detailed morphological investigation of internal tibial torsion and internal foot rotation and compare the results between MPL grades to better understand the pathogenesis of MPL.
Study Design: We performed a morphological study of the tibia and comparison with MPL grade, and established a new parameter, metatarsal orientation relative to the orientation of the tibial tuberosity, the proximal tibia metatarsal angle (PTMTA).
