The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), developed by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund to promote breastfeeding in maternity facilities worldwide, has had a global impact on breastfeeding outcomes. However, further interventions are necessary before and after hospital discharge to meet the initiative's recommended 6-month targets. The Baby-Friendly Community Initiative (BFCI), a multifaceted program for community based breastfeeding promotion designed to complement BFHI, addresses this challenge. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the origin of BFCI and its current implementation status in several countries as a reference for effective BFCI promotion in Taiwan.

Background: The 24-h rooming-in policy is crucial to the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) for promoting breastfeeding. However, this policy may restrict maternal autonomy. In 2018, to integrate women's preferences into care decisions, Taiwan's Baby-Friendly certification included prenatal shared decision-making (SDM) for rooming-in.

Parents' beliefs about infant sleep behaviour vary over time and across cultures. No validated instrument exists to understand parents' pre- and postnatal views on infant sleep behaviours, which may influence their caregiving decisions. The Views oN Infant Sleep Questionnaire (VNIS) will be a tool to assess parents' beliefs in order to facilitate tailored perinatal care, increase the reliability of postnatal self-report measures, allow for cross-cultural comparisons, and provide a baseline for researchers to use in longitudinal studies.

Although breastfeeding is known to improve health, economic and environmental outcomes, breastfeeding initiation and continuation rates are low in the United Kingdom. The global WHO/UNICEF Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) aims to reverse declining rates of breastfeeding by shifting the culture of infant feeding care provision throughout hospital maternity settings. In the United Kingdom, the global BFHI has been adapted by UNICEF UK reflecting a paradigm shift towards the experiences of women and families using maternity services.

Overweight and obese mothers in the United States have disproportionately lower rates of exclusive breastfeeding than mothers of normal weight. The Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding (Ten Steps), a series of evidence-based practices designed to support breastfeeding initiation, duration, and exclusivity, demonstrate effectiveness at the population level. It is unknown, however, whether they are consistently provided to women across all maternal body mass index (BMI) categories.

Objective: Mothers' return to work and childcare providers' support for feeding expressed human milk are associated with breast-feeding duration rates in the USA, where most infants are regularly under non-parental care. The objective of the present study was to explore Florida-based childcare centre administrators' awareness and perceptions of the Florida Breastfeeding Friendly Childcare Initiative.
Design: Semi-structured interviews were based on the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research and analysed using applied thematic analysis.
