Background And Importance: Effective and safe procedural sedation is pivotal for the quality of care in the emergency department (ED).
Objectives: The aim of this work is to evaluate the feasibility, effectiveness, and safety procedural sedation performed by emergency physicians in the ED setting in Italy.
Design/setting And Participants/intervention: Following a specific training of the staff and with the adoption of a standardized protocol, a registry of procedural sedations performed on adult patients in 10 Italian EDs was compiled from 2019 to 2022; the following basic data were recorded: demographic and clinical information, procedure's indication, administered drugs, predefined, and actual sedation level.

Background: Hemodynamic changes are independent risk factors for long-term patient morbidity and duration of hospital stay. According to the statistics, the three most prevalent complications in the postanaesthesia care unit were airway events, haemodynamic instability, and postoperative nausea and vomiting. Hemodynamic instability in the postanaesthesia care unit can result in serious complications, such as long-term patient morbidity and prolonged hospital stays.

Background: Respiratory function is impaired in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Automation of multi-volume CT-based measurements of different components of breathing-related airway deformations will help understand multi-pathway impairments in respiratory mechanics in COPD.
Purpose: To develop and evaluate multi-volume chest CT-based automated measurements of breathing-related radial and longitudinal expansion of individual airways between inspiratory and expiratory lung volumes.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a highly prevalent inflammatory lung condition characterized by chronic respiratory symptoms and airflow obstruction that often lead to diminished quality of life. Non-pharmacologic management for patients with COPD involves smoking cessation and healthy lifestyle changes. Pharmacologic treatments include inhaled bronchodilators with or without the use of inhaled corticosteroids, which can be administered through inhalation or nebulization.
