This qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study was performed with the objective to identify and understand the representations regarding the rational use of medications in three Family Health Strategy (FHS) teams in the urban region of Dourados, MS, founded on the theoretical framework of Stuart Hall's concept of representations. The chosen methodology was the focal group technique and the data were evaluated using thematic content analysis. There were a total of 26 participants. The professionals highlighted the curative role and the negative aspects of medications. They also presented representations regarding their patients, reporting that they do not understand the correct use of the medications, do not comply with the recommended treatment and engage in self-medication. There is a need to implement educational health practices to promote the rational use of medications.

Purpose: To develop and validate a radiomics nomogram model for predicting the micropapillary pattern (MPP) in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) tumors of ≤2 cm in size.

Methods: In this study, 300 LUAD patients from our institution were randomly divided into the training cohort (n = 210) and an internal validation cohort (n = 90) at a ratio of 7:3, besides, we selected 65 patients from another hospital as the external validation cohort. The region of interest of the tumor was delineated on the computed tomography (CT) images, and radiomics features were extracted.

Structure-Based Rational Design and Evaluation of BET-Aurora Kinase Dual-Inhibitors for Treatment of Cancers.

J Med Chem

January 2025

Department of Medicinal Chemistry, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, 555 Zuchongzhi Road, Shanghai 201203, China.

Simultaneous inhibition of the bromodomain and extra-terminal domain and Aurora kinases is a promising anticancer therapeutic strategy. Based on our previous study on BET-kinase dual inhibitors, we employed the molecular docking approach to design novel dual BET-Aurora kinase A inhibitors. Through several rounds of optimization and with the guidance of the solved cocrystal structure of BRD4 bound to inhibitor , we finally obtained a series of highly potent dual BET-Aurora kinase A inhibitors.

Background: The use of potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) is a major concern for medication safety as it may entail more harm than potential benefits for older adults. This study aimed to explore the prescribing rate, healthcare utilization, and expenditure of older adults using PIMs in China.

Methods: A cross-sectional analysis was conducted using a national representative database of all medical insurance beneficiaries across China, extracting ambulatory visit records of adults aged 65 years and above between 2015 and 2017.

Unlabelled: In pediatric outpatient care, overuse and misuse of antibiotics is linked to a high risk of adverse events and increased antibiotic resistance. In 2019, building upon the work of the Antibiotic Therapy in Bielefeld (AnTiB) project (founded in 2016), a collaboration among the AnTiB, the German Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases (DGPI), and the Professional Association of Outpatient Pediatricians and Adolescent Physicians (BVKJ) was established to develop consensus recommendations for antibiotic therapy in pediatric outpatient settings in Germany. This working group became the Antibiotic Stewardship in Outpatient Pediatrics (ABSaP).

The molecular basis of Human FN3K mediated phosphorylation of glycated substrates.

Nat Commun

January 2025

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, One Bungtown Road, Cold Spring Harbor, New York, 11724, USA.

Glycation, a non-enzymatic post-translational modification occurring on proteins, can be actively reversed via site-specific phosphorylation of the fructose-lysine moiety by FN3K kinase, to impact the cellular function of the target protein. A regulatory axis between FN3K and glycated protein targets has been associated with conditions like diabetes and cancer. However, the molecular basis of this relationship has not been explored so far.
