Objective: To evaluate reproducibility of oral rinse self-collection for human papillomavirus (HPV) detection and investigate associations between oral HPV, oral lesions, immune and sociodemographic factors, we performed a cross-sectional study of older adults with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection.
Study Design: We collected oral rinse samples from 52 subjects at 2 different times of day, followed by an oral examination and interview. We identified HPV with the use of polymerase chain reaction platforms optimized for detection of mucosal and cutaneous types.
Results: Eighty-seven percent of individuals had oral HPV, of which 23% had oncogenic alpha, 40% had nononcogenic alpha, and 46% had beta or gamma HPV. Paired oral specimens were concordant in all parameters tested. Significant associations observed for oral HPV with increased HIV viral load, hepatitis C seropositivity, history of sexually transmitted diseases, and lifetime number of sexual partners.
Conclusions: Oral cavity may be a reservoir of subclinical HPV in older adults who have HIV infection. Understanding natural history, transmission, and potential implications of oral HPV warrants further investigations.

Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is an uncommon aggressive neoplasm, usually arising in sun-exposed skin of the head and neck. By immunohistochemistry, KRT20 and MCPyV positivity are found in about 90% and 80% of MCCs, respectively. Noteworthy, viral status in lip/oral cavity MCCs is poorly known.

This scoping review maps primary prevention and early detection strategies for oral and oropharyngeal cancer across national cancer plans and noncommunicable disease plans from all World Health Organization Member States. Following PRISMA-ScR guidelines, bibliographic search was performed on key organization websites until March 2023. Of the 194 countries assessed three had subnational plans, resulting in 264 self-governing political entities and similar with revised plans.

The present study investigated the involvement of human papillomavirus (HPV)16 and HPV18 in oropharyngeal malignancies in order to understand the oncogenic mechanisms, and to identify biomarkers for early detection and treatment targets. Given the rising incidence of HPV-associated cancer, particularly in India, this holds significance in elucidating the molecular basis of these diseases. Structural validation of HPV16 and 18 oncoproteins E6 and E7 was conducted using computational tools, while gene expression profiles related to oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) were analyzed to assess differential expression.

: Vulvar epidermolytic hyperkeratosis (EHK) is an exceedingly rare dermatological condition, often presenting as solitary or multiple lesions in the vulvar region. Due to its clinical resemblance to other vulvar disorders, such as condyloma acuminatum, Bowenoid papulosis, and squamous cell carcinoma, vulvar EHK poses significant diagnostic challenges. While individual case reports and small case series have documented instances of vulvar EHK, comprehensive studies systematically consolidating the clinical, histopathological, and therapeutic aspects of this condition remain lacking.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Jiawei Ermiao Granules (JWEMGs), a traditional Chinese herbal formulation, has been widely used in China for the treatment of human papillomavirus (HPV) infections. However, the underlying mechanisms through which it exerts its antiviral effects remain poorly understood.
Aim Of The Study: This study aimed to investigate the potential mechanisms by which JWEMGs modulate vaginal microecology and clear HPV infections, utilizing clinical trials, metagenomic sequencing, and in vitro models.
