Background: Breast cancer is the leading cause of female cancer mortality worldwide, accounting for 1 in 6 cancer deaths. Surgery, radiation, and systemic therapy are the three pillars of breast cancer treatment, with several strategies developed to combine them. The association of preoperative radiotherapy with immunotherapy may improve breast cancer tumor control by exploiting the tumor radio-induced immune priming.

The use of antiretroviral drugs as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a critical HIV prevention tool. The growing demand for environmentally friendly semiconductors that can be tailored and developed easily is compelling researchers and technologists to design inherently bio-compatible, self-assembling nanostructures with tunable semiconducting characteristics. Peptide-based bioinspired materials exhibit a variety of supramolecular morphologies and have the potential to function as organic semiconductors. Such biologically or naturally derived peptides with intrinsic semiconducting characteristics create new opportunities for sustainable biomolecule-based optoelectronics devices.

Machine learning (ML) has shown great potential in the adaptive immune receptor repertoire (AIRR) field. However, there is a lack of large-scale ground-truth experimental AIRR data suitable for AIRR-ML-based disease diagnostics and therapeutics discovery. Simulated ground-truth AIRR data are required to complement the development and benchmarking of robust and interpretable AIRR-ML methods where experimental data is currently inaccessible or insufficient.

Soft microfluidic systems play a pivotal role in personalized medicine, particularly in in vitro diagnostics tools and disease modeling. These systems offer unprecedented precision and versatility, enabling the creation of intricate three-dimensional (3D) tissue models that can closely emulate both physiological and pathophysiological conditions. By leveraging innovative biomaterials and bioinks, soft microfluidic systems can circumvent the current limitations involving the use of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), thus facilitating the development of customizable systems capable of sustaining the functions of encapsulated cells and mimicking complex biological microenvironments.
