The pharmacokinetics of serum total thyroxine concentration (TT4) in euthyroid dogs was studied after concomitant administration of a levothyroxine oral solution with different types of dry diet. Mixing levothyroxine with different types of dry diet did not have any effect on TT4 pharmacokinetics in the dogs (Cmax 50.6 nmol/L, tmax 4.0 h and AUC 517 nmol h/L). This finding indicates that changing from one diet to another during levothyroxine-replacement therapy should not impact therapeutic effectiveness, and should be helpful for improvement of compliance with thyroid hormone replacement therapy in dogs treated for life with this replacement therapy.

Oral drug delivery remains the preferred method of drug administration but due to poor solubility many active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are ill suited to this. A number of methods to improve solubility of poorly soluble Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS) Class II drugs already exist but there is a lack of scalable, flexible methods. As such the current study applies the innovative technique of aerosol jet printing to increase the dissolution capabilities of a Class II drug in a manner which permits flexibility to allow dosage form tailoring.

Introduction And Importance: Restoring lost teeth in the posterior atrophic maxilla presents a significant challenge due to insufficient bone volume for implant placement. Simultaneous implant placement during lateral sinus lift is often considered, but the decision is typically based on the amount of existing bone. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility of simultaneous implant placement and maxillary sinus floor augmentation in the atrophic posterior maxilla using autogenous bone ring.

Upon recognizing elicitors derived from herbivores, many plants activate specific defenses. Most of the elicitors identified thus far are from the oral secretions and egg-laying fluids of herbivores; in contrast, herbivore fecal excreta have been sparsely studied in this context. In this study, we identified elicitors in the frass of the striped stem borer (SSB; Chilo suppressalis) larvae using a combination of molecular and chemical analyses, bioactivity tests and insect performance bioassays.

The pharmaceutical industry cares about reducing toxic side effects of drugs in oral formulation. The best solution is to reduce the drug dose. To do so, drugs are required to have high aqueous solubility to ensure good bioavailability.

Objective: The orthodontic mini-implant (OMI) failure often occurs due to the accumulation of peri-implantitis bacteria surrounding it, which results in a stable, resistant form of absolute skeletal anchorage during orthodontic treatment. Administering doxycycline may be the solution, but long-term side effects result in antibiotic resistance. Roselle flowers (Hibiscus sabdariffa) possess beneficial active phytochemical substances, which may have potential as an OMI peri-implantitis alternative therapy.
